Mono ran across the bridge, the fleshy eyes growing closer with every step. He didn't want to know what would happen if they were caught. As Six rushed past him Mono caught a glance of her eyes underneath her hood. They were filled with pain and hurt.
Six snuck a glance into the abyss, wondering briefly how long that fall would be. She jumped as the bridge started to crumble, falling into the void. She barely reached the edge and went to catch her breath.
The girl looked over her shoulder, seeing Mono run toward the edge and jump. He wasn't going to make it.Six reached out, grabbing the boy's hand before he was thrown into the inky abyss. She looked at him carefully, just now noticing his face wasn't covered. She had never truly seen the child's face, his hair flowed in the wind and his grey eyes were filled with fading hope. His eyes.
The Thin man's eyes.Thoughts of hate and betrayal filled Six's mind. He did this. The thin man did this. MONO DID THIS- "S-..Six?" Mono noticed the cracks beginning to form around where they were standing. The silence from Six was deafening.
Mono was the reason she was like this. He destroyed her music box. He is the Thin Man. He watched as she was taken away and didn't save her. He let her become that monster. He bonded with her. He saved her. She trusted him. And look where they are now.The eyes grew closer, causing the ground to crack even more. "Six..!"
Six looked into Mono's eyes. She pulled back her hand.
Six had seen this before. The reason she had this raincoat. She had tried to help but she had failed. It was fine, friends just got you killed. If she had pulled Mono up they both would've died. He always got them into trouble. He just dead weight. He was the Thin Man after all, the way he was drawn to those TV's, eyes filled with static, his ability to go into TV's. He was the broadcaster, there was no other explanation.
Despite this Six couldn't help but feel a tinge of guilt. She supposed he did help her. He was her frie- No. he betrayed her, she shouldn't have to feel bad for him. Six stood up and turned towards the doorway.
She didn't look back.
