MATTHEW'S POV
"Matthew..." I was in a dark room.
"Matthew?" I heard him say again.
Where the hell am I? No, how did I even get here?
I tried to look for an escape, actually, I was trying to know where I was. But, everything was dark. Nothing could be seen. I hear Nate's voice occasionally, but I don't dare go near the voice, because I know damn well that isn't him.
"Matt?"
...
Nate?
"Matt, you there?" I heard him say, his voice concerned and worried.
"Nate!" I finally shouted back.
"Ṃ̵̨̹̝͖̑̄̑͊̋̓͑͠att?" I heard his voice distort, but I chose to ignore it.
I walked forward, hoping that I could at least find some sort of light, and..nope. Nothing. It's as empty as my brain right now..joking. I started to run, desperately trying to find an escape or at least a place with at least a bit of brightness!
"Matt, where are you?!" I heard him shout.
I started to sprint towards the voice, shouting that I was coming. I literally didn't know where I was going, actually. I followed his voice, in hopes that I could find him. As he kept shouting my name, I felt myself getting closer, his voice getting louder.
As I was just about to reach Nate, I heard him scream and the place went silent. I stopped and looked around, panicking.
"NATE?!" I screamed but nobody answered.
I teared up and looked around, hoping to see him. To see his face again. His smile, hearing his voice as he comforts me. I felt tears rolling down my face as the thought of not seeing him ever again popped up in my mind.
"N-NATE?!" My voice cracked as I screamed again.
"You F̴͙̎̃̓O̴̘̗͈̬̐̾̈́Ó̷̲̆͒̂͆L̴̖̖͖̱̋̓!̸̧̢̥̟͛̆"
I shot up and looked around, wincing because of..that wound. I was back in my room, it was morning. My face felt wet, I put my hand on my cheek..yep, I was crying, and sweating, actually. I coughed and heard racing footsteps, my head whipped to the sound. The noise was growing louder, meaning somebody was running towards my room.
Suddenly, the door opened with a bang. Not expecting it, I flinched. I looked at the culprit, it was Nate, looking very worried. He looked around the room before his eyes landed on me. I saw him sigh in relief and he walked towards me.
He sat on the bed next to me and looked at me. Slightly suspicious of him, I scooted a bit further from him. He seemed to notice and frowned a bit. But, he didn't move from his place at all, he only looked to his feet and sighed.
"..what happened? I heard you screaming my name."
"..nightmare."
"Oh. You alright?" He raised his head and turned his head to me.
"Oh, yeah, just a bit shaken up..I thought I lost you." I sighed.
"Lost me? Oh please, I won't go down that easily." I chuckled at his remark
"Mare was there as well." I saw him tense up at the mention of the name.
"He didn't hurt me..he was just, I don't know? Trying to lure me to him..it was pitch black, I could only hear his and your voice."
"But, I'm pretty sure your voice was his as well, he was trying to trick me. He called me a fool in such a distorted voice and I suddenly woke up." I shuddered, remembering the tone of voice that was used against me.
Nate nodded and stood back up, shaking his head. A few seconds later, I heard him softly groan and he gripped his hair tightly. He fell to his knees and alarm systems started to go off in my mind, telling me to run. Telling me to get away, but I couldn't. He was groaning in pain. He sounded absolutely miserable.
"Nate? What happened?" I got off my bed and kneeled next to him.
"N-Nothing. I-It's just a really..bad headache."
"It looks really bad, you know? You wanna go to the do-"
"No! I-I'll be fine!" He shakily got up.
My eyes followed his movements. I saw his legs shake every time he took a step closer to the door. He really looked like he was gonna fall at any moment. So, I stood up and walked next to him, making sure he doesn't actually fall.
I didn't know what was happening to him. But, I wanted to know. I'm pretty sure that isn't a bad headache. It looked way worse than that. He looked sickly, his breathing was staggered and he just looked like shit.
Once we reached his room, he looked at me and gave me a weak smile. A way of thanking me for looking after him, making sure he didn't fall or..he was reassuring me that he was alright, which was an obvious lie.
"Take care of yourself, Nate. I don't want to be the one carrying you to the hospital if you pass out." I saw him softly laugh and nod.
I waved him goodbye as he shut the door. I softly sighed and went back into my room, trying to shake off any thoughts of Nate not being alright. But I couldn't. He was my friend after all. I just hope to see that wonderful smile back on his face soon.
