The sound of a car's horn woke me up,
What was I doing, lying in the middle of the street?
The sunset indicated a late evening,
and I felt pain all over my body.
Seeing my reflection on the glass door in front of me,
Blood and scars covered my face.
I ran my hand over it to make sure this was real,
It hurt.
As I stood up to wipe my clothes,
loud music was playing inside the building in front of me.
I slowly pressed the door, the music got louder
and I got in.
It appeared to be a nightclub,
the room was crowded,
so crowded that I had to push my way in.
No one seemed to notice nor care about my presence,
everyone was immersed in the music, dancing along with their partner.
The vibe was so overwhelming it made me forget about my wounds,
and I started to dance too.
I danced alone for a while
until a girl appeared in front of me.
She looked so pure, and her face was angelic,
It almost seemed too good to be true.
Her beauty made me feel self-conscious,
So I tried to back away, or at least hide my scarred my face.
But she grabbed my hand,
pulled me into her.
The music was too loud for her to talk,
but her comforting eyes said it all,
"Don't worry about it."
She then gave me a sign to follow her,
and so I did.
She led me into a room in the back of the floor.
Once the door closed, all noise stopped,
as if we became completely isolated.
The chamber was dark,
all I could see was a bed in the center beside a small desk.
We sat down on the mattress.
"Who did that to you?" She followed with a smile, making it seem like it was nothing.
These were her first real words.
"The last person I ever expected to do so."
Perhaps my voice was trembling or at least shaken.
She grabbed my shoulder, gently made me lay my head down on her lap, and brushed my hair.
"Well, I hope they got hurt at least as much as you did."
I shacked my head in approval.
"They probably will."
A brief silence followed.
"Why did you come to me?" I asked. "Out of all people who were there."
"I've been here for a while, and trust me, you're nothing like them. We are nothing like them."
This made me uncomfortable.
How can someone believe in you when you can't even believe in yourself.
"You can't say that. I've done... horrible things too."
I cut her off before she could answer:
"And you... you are this amazing pure person. What brought you here anyway?"
She stayed silent for a while, then slightly took off the upper half of her dress.
Her chest, her arms were full of cicatrices.
"This is no place for a pure soul."
For a brief moment, I could hear the music coming from outside of the room again,
followed by some reckless celebration shouts.
I stood up and approached the mirror on the wall,
My face was back to normal, but I still felt pain all over my body.
"Congrats, they are now easier to hide." She informed.
I ignored her words, walked toward the party while she tried to prevent me:
"Please, you don't have to go back there"
I opened the door, looked at her
"Sorry, but it's where I belong."
