It was half-past midnight.
I was running a bit late.
But I knew she'd still be waiting for me.
Made a turn and there she was.
Standing in front of that giant building on the other side of the street.
We faced each other for a second.
Kept eye contact from a distance.
It was dark and windy.
I took some time.
Perhaps I enjoyed feeling the wind brushing my hair.
Or perhaps it was hesitation.
I knew that I had to take that first step because she'd never do.
But I didn't.
The ghosts of my past held me back.
Sent me back home.
A sweet melody put me to bed.
And so I slept with a heavy heart.
Hoping for a better morning.
Hoping for this long-lasting loop to end.
