FRIENDSHIPS ARE GOOD
RIGHT?

: ̗̀➛

She felt the clouds watch her as she awoke, she felt them follow her as she left, the way they swaddled her as she slunk into the school.

Today would be different it was a new, fresh day brimming with endless possibilities.

Her first classes passed swiftly, she definitely could not tell you what happened in either.

Although she had been here for a good few days now one lesson remained, english. It didn't bother her too much. She loved it actually, more reading than the actual lesson.

But first she had to get over the expected stares and whispers, once that died down she would be fine, right?

Alena spent her break in the library, she couldn't stand the idea of having a repeat of yesterday.

The bell rang and she made her way out into the hall to the English department.

As she did so a silent companion sidled up next to her.

"Hi Alena, I'm Alice".

It was the pixie looking girl who would sit with Edward she assumed they were related although they shared no apparent similarities.

Her voice was delightful, almost melodic it was like the sound of a fresh spring day.

"Hello Alice I'm-" Alena had forgotten she already knew her name.

Alice giggled beside her noting the mistake.

"Are you looking forward to English Alena, I know Edward is" a smile formed across the petite girls face.

"Um yes I suppose I am, are you guys in my English?" perplexity ran through her tone.

"Yes we are indeed, why aren't you glad". She teased as the confusion shrank from Alena's face.

"No no of course I am, just unexpected is all it's nice to have a few friendly faces around".

"I'm just glad to finally meet you, Edward hasn't stopped talking about you that's why I came over, I wanted to introduce myself properly". She hung on the word finally like it truly had been an eternity.

"Really? I haven't spoken to him much he gave me a lift home yesterday but apart from that and bio-"

"Sorry Alena I overspoke, don't fret it's nothing". A knowing look gleamed in her eyes.

When in all honesty Alice had seen many visions of the two of them, they made her so incredibly happy. Their future was hopeful, and bright glistening and pure. Edward of course shook off any regard to the idea in fear of what he dreaded most, turning her.
The inevitable fate of falling in love with a vampire.

They had basically made their way to the English block now and the class was partially empty.

Alena had noticed herself trying to keep up with Alice's strange pace, meaning they got there rather early.

They took seats at the back she gathered the Cullens sat there usually. As if on cue Edward glided in ever so gracefully, and took a seat beside Alena.

His eyes ran across her noticing any small difference in her appearance he could. She gazed back at his searching expression.

"I see you've met my sister". His tone was hard, not unfriendly but rather unpleasant in contrast to his usual temper.

"Yes I have she is very lovely actually, it was nice knowing you guys would be here".

His mouth turned up into a half crooked half straight smile, it was devine. She figured if she had to stare at anything for the rest of eternity, it would be his smile.

Alena had given up letting Bella govern her life, who cares what Bella thought she knew about him.

A boy swiftly strolled in now at the same irregular pace as Edward and Alice. She recognised him as the one who sits with them also.

From the whispers she heard, it was Jasper. The deep concentrating look was no longer etched into his face, it was rather pretty actually. Loose golden waves danced around his jaw.

He made his way over, he shot an anxious glance towards Alena his brow furrowed slightly and sat next to Alice, he pecked her on the cheek and they began chatting happily to one another.

After that Alena realised maybe they weren't siblings, after all no siblings she knew acted like that.

A light chuckle resonated across from Edward as if he too heard her realisation.

She simply stared and laughed slightly to herself also.

"Did you sort things out with Bella, after yesterday?"

"No not really we didn't really talk much last night, you see Bella's not really one to forgive and forget too easily".

"Oh trust me I know, she can be awfully stubborn sometimes so much so it's infuriating".

Alena forgot that he was the boy who broke her heart, for a moment she felt a kind of understanding for Bella not wanting Alena to endure the same ending.

But this time, this time it could be different. They were not the same people so therfore they were not destined to the same fate.

"I couldn't of put it better myself, I think it might take a while once she's had time to cool down it will be fine". That's the least she could hope for.

The class were studying Romeo and Juliet, she had read it and was not too fond of either. Sacrificing themselves like that, was truly reckless.

Alena pulled out her worn copy of Wuthering Heights and took off from where she left off. Even the millionth time reading it still filled her with the same joy, she found comfort in knowing the outcome it soothed her almost.

The teacher switched on the VHS towards the ending of the film. Alena read hoping not to be caught in the now dim light.

"Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same".

Edward almost purred this in her ear, trying to avoid detection from the oblivious teacher.

Something about it sent shivers down her spine.

"You like Bronte?". She whispered back to his very close face.

"Hmm yes I do, although I have no respect for Heathcliff"

"Oh yeah and why's that?"

"Well he spent his life pining over Catherine and did not tell her truly how he felt, before it was too late"

"I see yes but he wanted her to be happy and if that meant her being with Edgar, then he would sacrifice that for her happiness"

"But in the end were either of them truly content with the lives they lived, without one another?"

"Hmm yes I suppose but-"

The teacher was now aware of their conversation and gave them a warning look. The whole conversation they tried to keep to hushed whispers.

She turned to face him and he stared back the gold pools of his eyes like honey swarming around her, almost swallowing her entirely.

They shared the same knowing smile and returned their attention back to the ending of Romeo and Juliet.
