Daydreams

It was the first time we had ever been out together. It had been a perfect night; we walked in the park, ate at a small Chinese place, and then he drove me home and now we're standing under the dark, unlit porch. He leaned in and I closed my eyes-

"Laney? Laney, are you in there?"

"Huh? What?" I shook my head, bringing myself back to reality.

"I asked if you were going into music performance or music education, considering we were talking about that," my friend (aka long time crush to my friends) Jake said to me.

"Oh, sorry, I've been blanking out quite easily a lot lately. Anyway, in answer to your question, I'm not entirely sure yet, I'd love to teach and see people progress, but I love to play and learn different pieces, plus I still want to get my pilot's license, I still want to fly but that has become my other plan since I fell in love with band."

"You want to fly airplanes too?! Since when?" he asked.

"About eighth grade. Why?"

"Because not many people love them enough to want something like that."

"Well, I guess you just found another person who loves them that much but loves music more," I laughed. We looked at each other, then he turned around and quickly said, "Trust fall", and fell into my arms. I caught him and all five of us standing there laughed.

"I've gotta get going, Laney, since we're in mid-conversation, would you like to finish it on the way to my locker?"

"Sure," I replied, saying good-bye to the others. We walked along in the hallway chatting animatedly about Cessnas, F18s, and SR71s, and other military planes, debating which would be the best. We reached his locker and stopped so he could get his stuff.

We walked down the sidewalk holding hands. He stopped to pick a flower, proceed to sniff it, and then stick the weed with the beautiful blossom in my hair. I laughed and smiled as did he. I hugged him and he kissed my forehead before we continued walking.

"Laney? Why do you always do this?" Jake said, his voice fuzzy.

"Huh? I blanked out again, sorry," I apologized as his face became much clearer.

"I'll repeat myself, I said bye, since we're kinda in the locker room now and I have to go home and you have to stay here because you have a sectional. By the way, Mr. Siulle might be a little ticked at you because when we walked in he said "hi" and I said "hi" back and you just kinda kept on walking, I just now was able to snap you out of whatever it was you were thinking about. You do strange things while you daydream you know. You actually sometimes talk. It's a little scary."

"I also talk in my sleep, it's normal for me, but you said I did weird things, like actions. Anything really odd?"

"Well, um, you kinda stopped, smiled, hugged me, grabbed my arm and kept walking...."

"Sorry......." I said turning my head away, blushing.

"It's fine, it's not like you were actually thinking about doing that to anyone, even me. Right?"

"Well, uhhh, my daydreams are for me to know and for you not to know." My face must be as red as a potato. I mean a tomato. Aghhh!! What the heck is happening to me?!

"It's fine. I'll see you later," he leaned in and kissed my cheek. Whoa.

"Ummm...." his eyes widened and his face immediately turned redder than Ron Weasley's does.

"SORRY!!!!! I didn't mean to do that!!!! That was supposed to stay in my head! Ummm, umm, um, I gotta go!" He sped out the door leaving his trombone behind. I smiled and picked it up. 3, 2, 1. He pushed the door open again and reached to grab his instrument but it wasn't there. I smiled.

"Now you can explain what happened. Why was you kissing me supposed to stay in my head?"

"Because you constantly have these wild daydreams about this guy you like and I figured it wasn't me."

"Why did you think it was you?" I said handing him his instrument.

"I don't know, because I'm me? And why would someone like you, wild, carefree, and independant, be interested in someone like me?"

"Because you're a Godly person, you're insanely funny, you're nice, you have an excellent body," he cringed, "oh please, it's your own fault I've seen it, you chose to change into formalwear in here! You have the best hugs, beautiful blue eyes, and are an all-around amazing person. That's why," I said with a smile. He leaned in and we shared a short, 2 second kiss.

"Bye, Laney, I'll see you tomorrow," he said with a smile.

"Bye," I said, sitting down on the floor with a smile plasterd to my face. Who knew daydreams could come true?
