I couldn't help but wonder. Miles had left me on my front door step a few hours earlier, yet he never seemed to leave my mind. Everything about him made me curious to know every little thing about him. I had never felt something like this before. I slammed my textbook shut with a sigh of frustration before throwing it to the end of my bed. Studying for Mr. Theisen's math test was going to have to wait.

I climbed off of my bed, heading down to the kitchen to find something for lunch. I hadn't eaten since breakfast yesterday aside from the cookie Miles had given me on the roof. Miles. There he was again, clouding my thoughts. I couldn't even make it five minutes. Upon entering the kitchen I began to rummage through the cabinets and fridge looking for something appetizing. I eventually settled on a leftover sandwich half and a jar of pickles.

I watched my dad through the window into the back yard as he weeded his rose garden. He had planted it first after he bought this house. It gave him purpose he had told me when I reluctantly helped him pick out roses at the garden centre. I had a brown thumb so they were of little interest to me. But it got him out of the house on the weekend mornings so I was happy. We were close so I knew he appreciated the time to himself after my mom died. They used to spend weekend mornings cleaning and gardening together.

I used to help but it hurt to much now. I finished the sandwich and put the lid back on the pickle jar before returning it to the fridge. I am not sure what possessed me to go out the back door to the garden and stoop to begin pulling weeds, but I did. My dad looked over in surprise from beside me. A small smile graced his lips as he looked back to what he was doing. We worked in silence to weed, prune and water the roses.

Once finished I returned upstairs to shower, not quite ready to study again.

-~*~-

Monday morning came around all too fast. Hushed whispers ricocheted off of lockers and between groups as I passed by. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know what they were regarding. I kept my head low as I dropped extra textbooks into my locker and made my way to first class. My eyes searched for Miles in the crowd on their own accord. I arrived to Mr. Theisen's classroom right as the bell rang. I rushed to my seat as students chatted to each other about their weekend.

"Alright thats enough, quiet down class" Mr. Theisen commanded from the front of the room as he shut the door.

His words went in one ear and out the next as he explained the test and time allotted. He handed them out to the front of the class and they were passed back. He returned to hi desk just as the pile landed on my desk. I grabbed one and passed it over my shoulder without even turning around. I tried to focus on the equations but my mind was blank. Aside from one person that is. I sighed and pulled the test paper closer, determined to get this test done and out of the way.

I handed my paper in to the pile on Mr. Theisen's desk as I left the classroom. There was only ten minutes left of class, but Mr. Theisen let students be dismissed early if they were done. I walked down the quiet hallways. I already had the books for my next class, but it wouldn't hurt to head to my locker and drop my math books off and pick up my history ones so I wouldn't have to fight through the throng of people until lunch. With that plan in mind I made my way back to my locker. I was just closing the door when I felt someone approach. I looked up to find none other than Kade standing there, leaning against the rest of the lockers.

"What do you want" I asked straight to the point.

"Why didn't you answer my texts over the weekend" He stated more than asked.

"Because I don't want to talk to you" I answered. Stepping around him and walking down the hall. I had blatantly ignored the texts he had sent wondering what I was up to. I had no doubt it was a ploy of some kind. To say I was not interested would be an understatement.
