Hawk rode up to Cora's house later on that evening. She texted her address, and the sun was just started to set over The Valley. Cora's house wasn't too far from his, but definitely not worth the walk, riding over on the motorcycle was a lot quicker. She had a decent sized house, it looked like a typical one you'd see in a movie. Two stores, a beige color, and empty drive way. He knocked on her door, deciding it was more interesting then ringing the door bell.A few seconds passed, Cora opened the door and smiled at him. "Hey."
"Hey." he grinned back to her. "Did you just wash your hair?"
Her hair was wet, letting him in the house. "I didn't think you were gonna get here so soon."
Apart of Hawk started to scold himself for heading over as soon as she texted, knowing no one actually did that and only ever showed up an hour late. But, he was quick with an excuse. "I was around, figured driving all the way home was hopeless."
"Oh, it's okay. I was getting a little bored anyways." she reassured him quickly, sensing that he might have taken her words as she didn't want him here. "Needed an excuse to stop working on my project anyways."
Hawk laughed slightly, looking back as she shut the door. "I just get other people to do it for me."
"I might need to take your idea." Cora agreed, walking as he followed. As they got closer to the kitchen, he saw the sprawled out homework and failed project all across the table. "I regret taking AP Biology."
"Why'd you sign up in the first place?" he asked her, leaning on the counter as she checked the timer. The sun setting outside made the kitchen illuminate in a yellow glow from the way it bounced off the yellow flower vases in each window ceil.
"College applications." she shrugged, a tight lipped smile across her face. "My mom says the more AP classes I do, the less likely they'll care about how many days i've missed."
"I miss a lot too." he hummed. "Hate getting up in the morning."
"Me too, I stay up really late." Cora laughed, turning back to grab a few mittens. He immediately thought she stayed up late with a new guy, but tried not to think that way right infront of her. "Do you have any food allergies?"
"Non." Hawk said back, frowning his eyebrows as she took a tray out of the oven. "What'd you make?"
"I was trying-" Cora stuck a butterknife in one of the trays and showed off the burned muffin. "-to follow a very old recipe."
He laughed, walking over to look at them. "Looks like you left them in a little too long."
"Probably read it too quick." Cora said back, her back hit his chest slightly by the way they stood. "We can order something if you're hungry."
"I'm okay." he lied, actually could go for something. "Ate before heading over."
"Right, me too." she turned with a nod, he gave a questionable look. "I mean I ate before you got here. Not before heading over. That would be weird since I live here."
