Amber watched the new intake from her room.

She crawled across the cold floor to get closer to the screen and touched it with her finger, her long pointy nail stopping on his grimaced mouth. She was drawn to watching him since he arrived, and had once silently entered the hospital wing through her maze of tunnels to watch him breathe while he slept. He was beautiful, strong and his scent was intoxicating.

She gnarled at the screen while she watched as the nurse approach him, and when she whispered in his ear she had to use everything in her not to bound through to the room and tear her throat apart, but Arlo had entered just after her soothing her urge.

He was resilient, not willing to enter the program peaceful and this made her even more attracted to him.

She knew he wouldnt end up in the Depths, she would see to it but he was close. Arlo, her brother could see it too - he was different to anyone else that had entered before him and Arlo loved nothing more than challenging the strongest intakes and finally setting them into the depths, enjoying the torture they would endure for not complying proving even the most powerful were useless in there. They never came out the same, physically and mentally.

He nodded to Arlo, she saw. She could feel the hate he held as he agreed to enter the program. She grinned, baring her long teeth.

On another screen she watched her sister approach the zoo. Every day Ruby tried to come talk to her, but Amber had no interest. She resented her younger sister for being able to run this place, her fathers facility but Amber couldn't present to people - she had been born a malformation looking mostly like her split, a Wolf. Back when her father had begun engineering them, she was the first and the wolf gene was too strong.

Once they had gotten to Ruby they had it perfected. She was mostly human form, Arlo the second born had the skin of a leopard but still mostly a giant and very muscular human, and Leno apart from being bent over ever so slightly and his thin frame you couldn't see any malformations from his split genes.

She wanted to run the place, it was her right but her appearance, the canine mouth, the hair from her head down her shoulders, the hands that were half human appearing but with long fingers - she could barely tap at a keyboard let alone meet with the rich to offer perfect children.

She watched Ruby once again leave her door, her head low.

Amber looked back to Carl, he didn't know it yet but he would soon, that he was her mate and their children were going to be the most powerful ever developed here, better than Ruby's planned child - they thought Ruby had it all - looks, brains, perfectly manufatured intelligence, but Amber knew she was the one, her offspring alone would be the most powerful with more to offer than Ruby's and their father would be so proud. He was always right, the first time regardless of her looks, each of her siblings after her were simply added nuisances, copies of her but much less in the traits that counted - all they had was beauty. Her and Carl were going to be sublime, perfect for the new line of Bellevue's.
