As I watched the woman I love walk through the gardens of our home, I began to think of how to keep her safe. I began to drift off in my thoughts when I heard a voice behind me.
"Father? Are you alright?" It was my adopted son Blake. "Yes Blake, I'm alright. I'm surprised you're not with your mother right now out in the garden." Blake looked uneasy so I went over to him and knelt down.
"What is it Blake?" Blake shook his head as if he was afraid to tell me something, "Blake please tell me. You know you always can tell me anything."
"Something about that garden is unsettling to me. I keep feeling like something is watching me. I just don't know what it is about that garden lately but I just don't like being in it anymore." Blake seemed uneasy and nervous. His hands clenched into fists at his sides. Nervously he bit his bottom lip.
"That hasn't been a problem before. I'm sure it's nothing. I'm sure it's just..." I was cut off and immediately became alert as I heard the sound of my wife screaming. I ran to the window and saw a master demon in the garden with several others with it. They started surrounding her. I didn't think as grabbed my seraph blade and ran for her. She had her blade on her like she always did but was easily out numbered and out matched. When I got to the edge of the gardens I yelled out for her.
"LAILAH!!! Get back!!" I slashed through one of the smaller demons easily bringing it down and moved on the next. Lailah got one taken down and fought off another as well. I soon took the second demon down and moved on to challenge the master demon. Although they are hard to bring down alone, it was not impossible. Lailah soon finished off her second demon only to find me battling the master alone.
"Drake what are you doing??!!" I knew she was scared and wanted to help but I told to her keep Blake safe. I knew she wasn't just keeping him safe but my other son safe too. I knew she was pregnant and wanted her to get out of here alive. Even if it meant risking mine. It took some time but I eventually exhausted the master demon enough to take it out. It's dead body never evaporated like most do because of its rank. The master demon would soon disappear but it would take some time. Which gave me a chance to get some demon blood.
And so I began the blood extraction from the the body of the master demon. And this is what would begin a new era in our kind.
