"Mikasa..." Eren stood at the front of the door in the small wooden cabin which he call his home, stranded in the middle of a forest.

"Eren? What is it?" Mikasa, Eren's older step-sister, the one who always stayed and took care of him.

"Mikasa. I have to leave."

How? Why leave Mikasa?

"What do you mean leave? What time will you be back?"

"Mikasa." Eren's voiced sounded choked, his turquoise eyes tearing up.

Please. Let me say goodbye Mikasa.

"Eren. Tell me what's going on." Mikasa tried walking over to Eren.

"No Mikasa... I have to leave. F-forever."

"Stop this nonsense Eren. Is this a joke?" Her usual confident voice, the one Eren was always so used to, it was broken.

Defeated. Desperately grabbing at denial as a savior.

"Mikasa. I'm... Going to go Yearwalking with Levi."

"Eren please. I'm begging you." Mikasa fell to the squeaky wooden floor on her knees, sobbing.

Mikasa. Please stop. I can't stand seeing you like this.

Is it my fault I can't handle some people at times?

"I'm sorry." As silence filled the room for a moment, Eren quickly kissed Mikasa on the head, opened the cabin door and ran. At least he didn't vomit.

Hearing the painful screams behind him.

The last image I had of her was her collapsed onto the floor, crying her eyes out.

He felt like he ran for ages, but no matter what distance he puts between him and his step-sister, the sobbing replays in his mind.
As painful as it sounds like, the pain motivated him to run faster. Faster away from Mikasa and faster towards Levi.

Over and over. Every menacing note. A pitiful screech.

I'm so sorry Mikasa. I have to correct myself.

Trying as hard as he could, Eren trudged on for the remaining 5 miles.

In the cold wintery month of December.

Damn it Eren.

"Shit... I fucked up. Again."
