Fruit of Knowledge

Sometimes I read my claimant's medical records, specifically their therapist notes, and I wonder just how "crazy" they are. A lot of them think they see things that aren't there. Demons, aliens, dead relatives, all sorts of things that a non-mentally impaired person would think is untrue. So they deem that person mentally unstable and diagnose them with borderline personality disorder.m, derealization disorder or schizophrenia. But who are we to say that what they see isn't real?

Eve ate the fruit, so they say, from the tree of knowledge. Most believe her punishment and for the generations after her is to have painful labor. But why would that be her punishment for a fruit from the tree of knowledge?

They say ignorance is bliss. Because the less you know the less you'll worry yourself and less offended you'll be. And in movies the celestial beings always say knowledge of their existence would be too much for humans to handle. So what if those who are deemed mentally insane are actually just aware that there are things beyond this plane of existence. What if they do actually see demons and aliens and dead relatives?

Adam and Eve certainly were not intelligent. The only knowledge they had was what God provided to them. So what if those today who are simple minded or diagnosed with a severe mental impairment that causes a lack of intelligence are what God intended us to be? So unaware of the real world, all they know is what they are told, and they go on about their day in ignorance, not by choice of course. I wonder if people who insult those who are unintelligent are just jealous. I wonder if subconsciously they know that those simple minded people are chosen by God.

What I would give to be oblivious to reality. Everyday is something new, something else to worry about. The discovery of a new virus, discovering an asteroid that might kill us. People killing each other, starting wars, the earth is dying. Is all this the price we pay for Eve's disobediant behavior? Is knowing too much actually killing us?
