"Did you guys win this weekend?" I was shocked by this question.
"What?"
"Did you guys win? You had a game right?"
"Uh, yeah, we did. And yeah, we did." We both laughed at my answer. "You were the first person to ask me that." Not even my parents or my sister had asked.
"Well, you know I'll always be your biggest fan! I didn't have time to look at your results this weekend since I was on that trip."
"Oh, I didn't even how that went!"
"Ugh, it was amazing. I loved it. I think we should definitely move to Texas once we graduate."
"Which city are ya thinking of?"
"Hmm maybe Austin, but Dallas was super nice too. I think Austin has been getting expensive from what I heard. But, OH I need to show you the cutest cowgirl outfit I got while there. Oh, it was so much fun we should take a roomie trip out there."
"I'm dying to go. The pictures you were posting was so nice. North Carolina was super nice too though. And oh, was it a Dallas Cowboy cheer leader outfit?! That would be the most perfect Halloween costume for you."
"Actually no! It's like this little brown vest and skirt with a white top with the boots, gloves and hat. I'll have to show you. But you're right that would be a good Halloween costume."
"Yeah, I would love to see it. By the way, do you know what you're doing yet? For Halloween?"
"Not yet! There are a few groups in my sorority doing group Halloween costumes, but I'm not sure if I want to join. Alexis was I think, but none of their ideas were good. It was like the basic cops and robbers, demons and angels, stuff like that. Nothing very creative, in my opinion. Do you have anything planned?"
"Well...." if she thought those ideas were basic, I'm sure she might not like ours. "We were thinking of Barbie. I'm going to dye my hair a lighter blonde. But we have a few people joining us, and we're still talking to a few more to see if they would like to join."
"Oh, Barbie, huh? Interesting."
"Yeah, but as a backup we were thinking of Disney princesses instead. It would probably be to get costumes for that instead. I know you probably think that's pretty basic too, but we have potentially a large group!"
"No, that's super cute! What are you thinking for Barbie?"
"We're not sure if we want to all match or if we want to like each be a different doll. We want to get everyone to take a vote and I guess if it's not decisive, we would go as Disney princesses. I already called Aurora."
"Oh she's my favorite! I would love to go as her. I haven't been to Disney since I still lived in Florida. It was such a fun time."
"I've always wanted to go!"
"We need to graduate and make our millions so we can just travel. I want to see the world. Even before today we have talked about California, New York, Boston over seas too to Italy, France, and London." It was so fun just talking to Maddie that I was ignoring all the texts I was getting. "Now we have Florida, Texas, and North Carolina if you're interested in going back."
"Oh, yeah that would be great! I would love to see more of it, plus there still so much more of the world to see. I hope they make everything a little more accessible by then. I know they're starting to make furniture, appliances, and all that for reduced people already, but I wonder how cars and work will be like."
"Yeah that would be interesting to see. But hey, I'm sure all you've been talking about the past couple of days has been about this. Let's talk keep talking about other things? I'm sure you're annoyed by now."
"Actually, no believe it or not. This isn't going away. At least not for the foreseeable feature. I've accepted that and I'm slowly getting used to it. I don't mind the questions. You can ask anything you want!"
    "Well... if you're sure...."
    "Yeah! Trust me, it's ok."
"I just... honestly I don't even know what to ask. I kinda just want to scream! You scared me! You know I don't like confrontation, so when you walked up I was so nervous when I asked you not to sit there. I never would have imagined that was you! You're so small! That little girl's dress doesn't help either! Seriously, why did you wear that?! Surely you have better clothes?"
"I don't actually. But I was able to find someone to remedy that though!" I said, checking my phone to see if I got a reply. "I'm not, like, shorter, I'm smaller. So I don't have the proportions of a child. They're actually wider than me, according to Dana, who is a cheerleader I met that got affected. So shorts and whatnot are too big for me, and my legs are more slender, stuff like that. The only thing I can really wear right now are dresses."
"I guess that makes sense. Gosh, that must be so weird. Pardon me Haley but I need to keep saying it because I can't believe it but you're so small!" I just giggled at her. Something about her reaction is so cute to me. "What's it like?"
"Well, I don't feel like I shrunk. My brain hasn't, like, processed it that way. Everything to me, including you, just grew twice it's size."
    "So I'm 10 feet tall?"
    "Yup!"
"Oh, wow. Thank goodness that isn't reality. That's so big!"
"Hah, yeah. It really is. But, it's weird. I've seen a girl shorter than you, but I still felt smaller near her than I do you."
    "Really? I wonder why?"
"Hmm, maybe because I know you so well? But, then again my own sister felt huge."
"You've seen your sister since you've shrunk?"
"Yeah! She's here. Last I saw, she was passed out. Probably hung over."
"Ah, makes sense. She's a party animal."
"Hahaha, yeah. They wanted me to go out, but I don't think it's the best idea when I'm the size of their legs."
"Gosh, Haley. I'm so sorry. It must be terrible!"
"Honestly... it hasn't been all bad. It overall does suck a lot for toms of reasons, mainly regarding my future, but, it's been ok. The side affects aren't as bad as you might think."
"There are side effects? Like what?"
"Biggest ones, no pun intended, are I've been so tired! Like, I want to sleep so much. Everyone has been so attractive to me."
"Ooohh lá lá! Thinking about locking down little Lucas?"
"Ha! Trust me, there isn't anything little about him. I couldn't lock him down now. It would be awful for me."
"Hmm? Why not?" Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever told her about the more intimate aspects of me and him, since I firmly believe she's a prude.
"Uhm, well..." unsure of how I would get out of this one, I figured I would tell her the truth. "He's way too big for me now."
"Big? Well, I imagine everything is big to you now! Even me!"
"Yeah, but... you know what I mean...." She had a confused expression as she thought about it. This is what I meant by her naivety. But she quickly understood and had a look of horror on her face. I couldn't help but laugh at her. "Do you want me to continue?"
"No, I think I got it now!" She started blushing and I just kept smiling at how cute she is.
"Besides, I think I might like girls now? I meant it when I said everyone. Something about being dominated is exciting. I'm not sure if it's just not used to it yet, or what."
"What about me?" She said, looking at me with the biggest smile she could make. Luckily we were at a red light, or else I would have been terrified of an accident.
"You were always a little cutie! But now you're a big, sexy lady!" I didn't want to admit she is extremely gorgeous to me. Not sure why, maybe because of the fact she's practically my sister. I don't want to ruin it, although I'm sure she would know to take it platonically. I'm sure I'll tell her one day.
"Hahaha, ew don't call me big! I might be tall big but there is no way my boobs or my butt looks big to you. I'm probably still as flat as a board." She wasn't wrong. She wasn't actually as flat as a board of course, but she didn't have the biggest... "assets" by a lot. I think at half my size, I still have bigger boobs than her, and I don't have big boobs myself to begin with. I have to remember to try on one of her bras later, although it likely would be too big for my body.
"Oh, please. Just because you may be a little more... modest than others doesn't mean your personality and your looks don't make up for it. Those are more important anyways. Maybe if you would actually use them to find yourself a boy!"
"Not this again, Haley! We've been through this so many times. I don't know why you want me to have a boyfriend so bad."
"I just think it would help your confidence! You're so gorgeous and you're the biggest sweetie pie. But, I don't know, it's like you're wasting it almost. I've known you 4 years now and I've never seen you talk to a boy more than just platonically, I've never even heard you talk about boys!"
"Yeah, I just haven't found the right one I guess!" I'm not sure how she was able to smile while saying that.
"Maybe you're the biggest romantic out of all of us. Waiting for "the one". How do you know you've found him if you don't ever talk to anyone."
"Have you ever asked a married person how they felt about their significant other? I always get 'you just know'. I guess I'm waiting for that feeling of knowing."
"Well, until then you're stuck with me! I'm not so sure how the world is going to be adapted for miniature people."
"Aww, you can count on me! We'll find an accessible apartment for you once we graduate. Ah, we're here!" We put the conversation on hold as we made our way into the sport's bar. The hostesses asked how many, and when Annie said two, the hostess looked at me and asked if we wanted a kid's menu.
"No? Why would I want a kid's menu?" Maddie asked, genuinely confused. Luckily the hostess understood and apologized. We made our to our booth, and before leaving, the hostess asked me directly if I wanted a booster chair. I thought about it for a little bit before saying no out of embarrassment. Once I climbed in the seat, I realized I had made a mistake. I could hardly see over the table, let alone reach it comfortably.
    "Speaking of accessible..." I said.
"Oh, yeah! I wonder how that works. Like, if we were to get an accessible apartment, would it have like two stoves, fridges, and all that or just like, an in-between size?" I don't think Maddie understood why I said what I said, since she hasn't stopped looking at the menu since she sat down. "I wouldn't mind living in an apartment with you where it's all tiny stuff! It'd be like living in a doll house almost." She finally put the menu down in excitement of that thought. "Oh, will you be ok like that?!"
"Maybe!" I said, with my legs dangling. I was too embarrassed to ask for that chair now. "I'll figure something out. But, yeah that would be interesting. I'm sure there are families that have a husband or a wife affected but not the other, so how do they live together?! One of the girls I met that was affected in the first wave has her whole apartment furnished with miniature furniture. Not sure about the appliances, but she invited me over to come see. I think I'm going to visit her soon for sure."
"Oh, I'd love to come! I'm so curious what it would look like from my perspective."
"I could ask her but you might ruin the immersion of us being full size."
"Ha! Then maybe I also feel like I'm 10 feet tall. But I mean, you'll need a ride there! So I feel like there's no way she'll say I can't come in. Besides, there's no way she only ever hangs out with people who are affected. I don't want to impose though, of course."
"I'll definitely ask! My biggest concern right now is clothes. She told me about a lady who can make a lot of my existing clothes miniaturized so I can wear them still. Not sure how that whole procedure works, but she actually replied saying I can stop by whenever. I'll need to find some time to do that."
    "Let's go after this!"
"If you really don't mind, that would be so fantastic!"
Our waitress came to us, we had decided to go ahead and order so we could go home and get some clothes to bring to Cindy. Not sure exactly how the procedure works, so she asked me to bring a few items over as a sort of preview. I ordered my salad while Maddie ordered a club sandwich.
"I really wonder how she does her thing. Does she just shrink it in the wash?"
"Well, she's a seamstress so she can make clothes for us, but for existing clothes, I guess she uses the original garment or something and just tailors it. That's what I want to find out."
"What do you think you'll bring to her?"
"Well, I want a pair of jeans for sure. But I think a cute dress like yours too! Not sure how many she wants me to bring so I'll just try one of each and she what she can do."
I hardly ate my salad, while Maddie was able to finish her sandwich entirely. I couldn't believe how little I was eating. I don't think I have never finished a salad before. I boxed it up, and Maddie and I went home.
