The end of summer was marked on the calendar of every student, a sad day for those who would miss beach trips and bikinis, along with sunburns and chlorine dried skin. The people that would reminisce over sleeping in, longer days and hotter weather. For a select few, it was a day they looked forward to, the start of new classes and spending several hours of every weekday with your friends, school trips and new drama. For you, the end of summer meant the last two years of highschool, in a new place. Shiganshina High, to be exact.
Moving schools in your junior year wasn't a prospect you reveled in, quite the opposite in fact. It all fell to Cady Heron for your liking. However, with a house your parents had always loved going on sale, and a job transfer the move was a no brainer. Your parents had always been somewhat absent, leaving often and for long periods of time. Either for work or pleasure, you didn't care to ask anymore. For the most part, it was just you and your sister Pieck. You consider yourself close with your sister, and though you argued over arbitrary things, they were typically forgotten by the next morning or promise of food.
Though the prospect of once again being in a new school filled the pit of your stomach with dread, you were going to try your best to take it in stride. At least, that's what you told yourself. So when you pulled your car into the parking lot, you tried not to be scared at how large the building was, or how the realization kept growing that you knew nobody in this entire school, not even your sister.
Shiganshina District High- the Shiganshina "titans" as the mascot suggested- was an old brick building, with ivy and moss clinging to the divots in the bricks and climbing its way up the side. Green and white banners with the school's mascot hung outside the large front doors, signaling the school's pride. Neatly planted shrubs line up under the windows, and by the walkways, making the building feel much more in touch with nature than it really was, stuck in the middle of Shiganshina, with dozens of other buildings within walking distance. Apparently the building had been constructed over a hundred years ago, and used to be a boarding school. About fifty or so years ago, there had been a fire that destroyed most of the living spaces.
Clutching your schedule, you scanned the hallways for the "fiber arts" room, passing by many students who were chatting happily with their friends, comparing summers and which teachers they had been assigned for the year. After finally locating the room number, you slid onto one of the high stools positioned at the metal table in the back. Instead of desks, this classroom was filled with three rows of metal tables, each one with four stools around them. A shelf full of sewing machines lined one wall, and on the other stood a pegboard with fabric scissors.
By the time the final bell rang, almost every seat was filled. In front of you, sat a boy with the biggest blue eyes you had ever seen in your life, and blond hair that hung almost to his shoulders. He wore a knit sweater that somehow managed to accentuate the softness of his features.
"Ok, I know this is a new year and probably a lot of new faces." the teacher at the front said loudly, trying to get everyone to quiet down. "So I want you to introduce yourself to everyone at your table, with your name and favorite dum dum flavor."
You mentally groaned at the idea of icebreakers, possibly your least favorite part of a new school year. They seemed so pointless to you, as you'd likely forget everyone's names by the next day anyways. You made eye contact with the blond boy, and there was an awkward silence as the both of you waited for the other to start.
"I'm Armin Arlert." the boy introduced himself, realizing you didn't have plans of piping up any time soon. "And, I guess my favorite dum dum flavor would be, the red one?"
"Y/N Finger, and my favorite is blue raspberry." you gave a pursed lip smile, taking the opportunity to glance around the room at the other people. Most of the class was girls, only Armin and a couple other boys sprinkled in.
