The week I was grounded wasn't so bad. I had busied myself the whole week working and then when I wasn't working some of the girls came over, Penny and Soph had gotten grounded for just a few days, Chloe however just got yelled at and nothing more. I'd see Thomas very little, sometimes he picked me up from work and drove me home, and I also saw him when he came into the store. I went to my Mom's in Westminster twice after work, one time Viktor drove me back and forth but the second time Thomas drove me. Yesterday, the last day of my grounding I turned 18, we had a small party at home, a bunch of our family came and the girls, Thomas would have come if he wasn't working.
It leads me to today, Saturday, and I sit at Chloe's, finally allowed to go out and have some fun. We sit at her kitchen table with bowls in front filled with cereal we're eating. I'm on my phone scrolling through social media when I get a text from Thomas. It reads, "What's ya doing?"
I send him a text message back saying I am eating.
He answers and asks me if I can come out tonight.
I answer yes, it's a date, as a joke but his next request makes me wonder if it is a date.
"Dress up, be fancy." Thomas sends me and I nod and then I look up to see Chloe looking at me questioning why I'm so happy and smiling at my phone. I decide to spill the beans and tell her what's been going on between me and Thomas.
"We have been talking and I think he might be asking me out on a date right now!" I say.
Chloe's face lights up and she smiles from ear to ear. "Oh my God! And you're just telling me this now? Taylor, we have to go on a double date sometime!" She squeals.
"Chloe this is just our first date if this is even a date."
"I don't care, I'll make him go on a double date with us if this isn't a date!" I roll my eyes and fill my mouth with a spoon full. "I'm coming with you to get you ready," Chloe says and I nod. We finish eating and head over to my house where it is empty, I don't know where everyone is but it's convenient for us.
I hop in the shower and take a really quick shower, I hear Chloe playing music outside in my bedroom as I rub shampoo and conditioner into my scalp. When I'm out of the shower I blow dry my hair and then go into my room, we pick a dress for me to wear, we pick a dress with a black skirt and some flowers on it, the top is white with small spaghetti straps. After I get into the dress I allow Chloe to do some natural make-up as I rarely do it, especially myself. I quickly tie my hair in a pretty bun and then I'm ready.
While we wait for Thomas to pick me up we talk and listen to music, I also send a text to my Dad I'm going out with friends and he'll get more details when I know something more because the truth is Thomas didn't tell me anything more abou5 this except he was coming to pick me up and I should dress fancily. Through the music, we hear a car think, and a few seconds later Thomas texts me he's here. I and Chloe go upstairs and put on our shoes and then we exit my house. I see Thomas sitting in his car looking at his phone while he waits. Chloe whites me luck and then she walks home, I walk to the passenger seat I've become very familiar with the past few weeks. I sit down in the car and buckle my seatbelt.
I look up to see Thomas looking at me, he has a big smile on his face as he starts driving, he's in black jeans and is in a white dress shirt. "Where are we going?" I ask as we pull out onto the main street.
"We are going to Baltimore to get dinner at the restaurant Capital Grille," Thomas tells me and I immediately send a text to my Dad informing him where I'm going, it's still early enough that we will be there and back with dinner that the clock will probably just be eleven when we get back.
"Okay sounds nice, what's the occasion?" I ask as I connect my phone to his car for some music.
"Your birthday I missed, and our first date." He says and glances over to see my reaction. I smile a wide smile and blush a bit, I can't believe I'm going on a date with one of the hottest boys in Hampstead, and in my opinion the whole of Maryland.
"Do you have Red Bull?" I ask while I pick out some songs to queue up.
"Of course, there are two in there." He points to the clove department and I fetch them both, one for me and the other for Thomas, however on the ride, he just takes sips from me.
We park outside the restaurant and then when we get out of the car and walk to the entrance Thomas grabs my hand and intertwines our fingers. We walk in and see it's a busy restaurant, we wait in a short line to talk to a waiter who finds us a table that had been reserved for us. We sit down and take up the menus that lay on our table. After a while of reading the menu and discussing a few things, we order lobster and crab cakes as appetizers. After the appetizers, I get the roasted chicken breasts, and Thomas orders the double-cut lamb rib chops.
Throughout the dinner, we laugh, chat and get to know each other better.
"That was a fun time," Thomas laughed after he ended a story, "But your piercings, I never noticed them, they're really cool, want any more piercings?"
I smile and think about what piercings I don't want. "I want many more." I chuckle.
"Really? Want to give me a hint on what piercings?"
"Why don't you take a guess?" I want to pierce my navel, nipples, nose, and tongue, pretty much everything he would guess is right.
"Where the sun don't shine." He says and I smile.
"There are many places like that." I point out and he shrugs.
"So where do you want to get pierced?"
"Pretty much everywhere," I answer, and he nods.
"What about tattoos?"
"I could see myself getting some in the future," I say vaguely even though I know where I want them and have an idea for the image I want.
"Okay, me too." He answers and then changes the subject to school, asking where I'm going, what I'm going to study and I ask him a few things as well. After our dinner we order dessert, I get the Capital Grille cheesecake, and Thomas orders the classic crème brûlèe. I get a taste of his desert and he mine, I scoop a bit of cake onto my little fork and look up at Thomas he eye's me carefully but I smirk and he can't help a smile.
"Open up," I demand as I position my fork to be in front of his mouth, he does as he's told and opens up but I don't get the chance to put the fork in his mouth when he leans forward and devours the piece of dessert on my fork, he does it seductively his tongue licking the tip of my fork before leaning back to his chair, I smile and take another bite from my dessert but for myself this time, my next bite is from Thomas's plate.
With our plates are nearly licked clean we ask for the check and Thomas wants to pay it all except I insist on paying for the dessert and tip the waiter at least, he lets me do that and then we leave hand in hand and go back to his car. I wait for Thomas to sit down before I lean to him and kiss him, our lips collide and try to get closer to each other, his tongue opens up my mouth and I allow him access, his tongue slides over mine and after a bit, his hands are on my waist squeezing me, I want to be closer to him and I know he wants it too and so before anything else can happen I pull away, biting his lip as I leave.
"I had a good time," I say with a smile on my face getting my seatbelt buckled.
"I did too." He chuckles and starts the car. Like earlier I pick the music but where the ride is different this time around is when he doesn't need to use his right hand he rests it on my thigh, I have my hand on his and hum to the music while I text messages to my Dad, notifying him I'm on my way back to Hampstead, and Chloe, telling her that this most definitely is a date and it's going super well.
"Do you want to go home?" I'm asked when we drive into town.
"What other options are there?" I have a mischievous smile on my face and he takes that as my answer and drives to his house. We walk in and down to his bedroom, memories about the last time I was here flood my mind and I flush at those thoughts, thank God I haven't drunk tonight.
"I'm going to get some things for us from the kitchen, any specific requests?" Thomas tells me still standing in the doorway, I walk around the room thinking for a second before responding.
"How about a piece of you?" I smile as I look at Thomas, he shakes his head while smiling. "Just something to drink, anything except Coke or Pepsi, I hate that type of soda!" I tell him and he nods as he's writing it down to keep in mind for later, which is kind of sweet.
"Okay, and anything to eat?"
"Just whatever." I smile and sit down on his couch, Thomas looks at me weird but doesn't say anything, I have to ask him about it later. He heads back upstairs supposedly to the kitchen. I look around and begin to take in his room for real now, never had a chance to before. His walls are painted a dark blue, she has two windows one over his bed and the other over the couch, and the other walls are occupied by his dresser and TV and then desk and some posters. He has some shelves on and they are filled with random stuff, two trophies, and a few fictional figurines. It's a typical boys' room but it also has a special feel to it none else have, it has the feel of Thomas like he's just a bit different from typical.
My circling thoughts get interrupted when Thomas comes back in, he puts the things he has in his hands down on his bedside table and sits down on his bed, he pats the bed beside him asking me to come to him, I gladly do and sit as close as we have ever sat together, Thomas hands me a bottle of soda, it's Mountain Dew, I place it between my legs, the cold surprises me and I wince, Thomas laughs and he places a bowl of spicy Doritos between us, I take one chip up and put it in my mouth, the flavor melts in my mouth.
"My kind of man," I say indicating this is one of my favorite snacks. Thomas smiles and we start scrolling through the TV looking for something to watch, we end up starting to watch my comfort show, Chicago Fire, which is not my only comfort show.
We watch about three episodes and when the third one is over, as well the drink in my hand and nearly all the chips in the bowl, I check my phone to see the clock is nearing half one, I text my Dad I'm on the way home and I stand up from the bed. Thomas does so too and turns the TV off, I take my soda up to the kitchen while Thomas follows with his bottle and bowl, we place it down and then I go put my shoes on in the foyer. Thomas stands over me as I do and he looks at me the whole time.
"What?" I ask when I stand up.
"Just wondering how you found our first date."
"I already told you. But what did you think?"
"It was the best date I have ever gone on!" Thomas smiles and I do too, I lean into him and he wraps his arms around me as our lips meet and kiss. I pull away and we say our parting words and then I walk home with one of my biggest smiles ever.
