Foreword: Your favorite NBA player might be the old but good ones like Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and all the others. Your favorite player maybe is one the modern one like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. The NBA isn't an easy thing. To get popular, you need rewards, and maybe even get to the Hall of Fame to just leave a mark on the league. Maybe even win the dunk contest. There's also practice where they practice things they done in elementary to the newest crossover they just saw last game. Their life isn't easy, even though they're just playing ball. Getting in the league is hard enough, getting on a good team is even harder. So I'm going to try to do a good POV of a NBA player.
Hello, I am Joe McConnell. I'm from Colorado State University. I've always been taught in basketball to try my hardest and learn the newest moves. The thing is, I for one will try but not do new moves. If you do old ones, all these player expect the newest crossover or behind the back. But I do things that I learn from Jordan. Look where he got to, the Hall of Fame! New ones have errors, so someone could steal it. But, if you pull out a Jordan move, they won't expect it. I always mix it up so they don't know what I'm going do. So enough of that, I'm going to skip to when I was going to the draft.
...
The NBA draft is being held in 2 rounds. If you don't get drafted, you can always try out. Sometimes draft picks aren't worth it and are overhyped. The announcer does his beginning speech but I'll skip to the drafting.
"The Los Angeles Lakers draft the 6'11 center from Georgia State, Kevin Barrett!"
The Lakers needed a point guard and a center, don't know why they didn't pick a point guard first, since he runs the offence. But I didn't want to play there anyways.
"The next pick, the Milwaukee Bucks select, the 6'5 shooting guard from Tennessee University, Roy Turk!"
"The next pick is the Toronto Raptors and they select the 6'7 point guard from Colorado University, Joe McConnell. "
Now I'm am a official NBA player, but now I have to leave the US. The Toronto Raptors are in Canada, one of the coldest places. I was hoping to get picked by the Nuggets, who had the next pick. But, I'll take it. Well, good thing I took foreign language class. I know what people will say up there.
I go get my hat and shake the announcer's hand and go sit with my GM, (which stands for general manager.)
"So, you know what language people speak up there in Canada?" he asks.
"Yes sir." I told him.
"Good, I don't want to waste practice time teaching you that," he said.
I'll now skip to our first practice.
...
"Ok boys, let's teach this young rook what it is to be an NBA team." Coach said.
The starters start to practice against the people that sub for them and they pass the ball to their bigs a lot. I notice what kind of offense they run. It was what the Knicks ran back when they Melo. (Carmelo Anthony) So I'm going to assume that our bigs can slam it down like Melo did and pass it to them more than I usually did in college.
"Ok rook, wanna run offence as point?" Coach asked.
"Yes sir, ready to go." I said.
So I got off our bench and came in and the starting point guard said,
"Hey rook, pass before shoot, ok?"
"Ok, and pass it to our bigs?" I ask.
"Picking up our offence already, must've of watched plenty of basketball, eh?"
