Time skip 5 years later

"Y/n!! Mama called everyone to the living room!!" Melvin's voice called me through the walls of the house "yeah yeah, I'm coming. I'm coming" I yelled back as I closed the book I was reading and came down stairs.

I'm now turning five years old and I don't really like talking to the kids I live with. One is that they're too noisy, two is that they're too stubborn, and three I don't like children.

Even in my past lives I never planned to have children, I think the only kid I ever interacted with was Klee, because back then I felt bad for her and I was really close to Alice before. And to probably get closer to Albedo- EHEM!

I walked through the halls of the house leading to the living room for Mama's announcement. I was busy planning to secure my future so that I could finally rest once I would die and to live my best life this time.

During my years here, I quickly learned how to speak and walk. I learned that I did have my vision with me and not some fake ones so started practicing to use it with this new body. Turns out that this body isn't that physically strong like the one I had before, so it took some time to get used to it again.

I planned what I would do once I got adopted. If my parents were strict, I would focus on studies then graduate electrical engineering or architecture since those two are the two courses that I'm most familiar with and those jobs give a ton of money.

Actually at first I was always troubled on why we aren't seeing the foster parents. I mean, as if they could just randomly pick out a kid! Plus, the fact that every kid should be adopted at the age or before the age of twelve. How? Like, what if no parent would want to adopt them? Shouldn't the children that weren't chosen to be adopted live up until 18 so that they could be legal and live on their own?

As I arrived at the living room, those thoughts flew away as I put up a straight face and sat beside Melvin.

"Everyone! I have great news! A lovely couple decided to adopt Alex in three days!" Mama said, other children were rejoicing at the announcement as I just shrugged and gave my congratulations to the said boy.

'I seriously hope that the couple that will adopt me are either gay or lesbian' I thought as I smiled at Alex that looks like he was going to faint in fear. And I, as a former part-time detective and strategist, was quick to catch on that he knows something we don't.

As of that time, my curiosity came back to my mind like a bomb. So, I started looking for clues. The first thought that came to my mind was Mister Minerva's books, they had Morse codes in each book. One of them spelled 'promise' and 'danger' which caught my attention, so I planned to sneak out the day Alex gets adopted.

The day has come and we just finished seeing Alex off, I quickly ran to the library then opened the window to use my anemo vision and got out through the window. (Btw the skill that she used was like Ayaka's sprint)

I silently followed the older woman and Alex as they spoke. "Are you happy, mama?" The young boy said "hm? Happy about what?" The woman said as she looked at the boy with a calm expression but if you were to look closely you'd see that she was sorrowful.

"Sending off your children to die?" Alex asked as my curiosity grew more "I don't" She calmly replied, looking back at her tracks

"Then why do you keep doing it?" He asked again "for survival, Alex." She said as she finally led Alex through the gates.

"Thank you mama, for everything" he said as a creepy creature walked towards him and stabbed him with a colorless flower. As the petals of the flower turned red, Alex had lost consciousness and died as he dropped his suitcase.

'What was he thinking!? Couldn't he even try to escape or run! Was he crazy or what!?' I thought as I was there, dead terrified. But no one could see me. I had a confused and terrified feeling, but I had to keep my cool and stay quiet.

"A high quality today?" The creature asked as they put Alex's body to the back of the truck. "Indeed, good sir." Mama replies as she just stood there with a straight face

"A few more years till we finally harvest the premium qualities, right?" The strange creature stated as mama replied with "indeed, I will do my best to nurture them" she said as the creature just nodded and walked away.

I quickly ran back to the orphanage and went through the open window, still in my elemental skill.

'qualities? Harvest? Nurture!? What are we, plants!? Animals!?' My thoughts haunt me as I keep a straight face to avoid attention and walk to the dinning room to eat.

Honestly I have lost appetite from what I just witnessed but what can I do? I'll have to keep my posture to secure my safety. Sure I had experienced death more than once and if I were to die again I would just be reborn again.

But this feeling was different, I had the feeling of dead horror that even made me feel a slow painful death. The feeling was terrible, I couldn't even get my mind straight. Thoughts were bombing every single path of my mind, I was shivering in fear.

But as soon as that woman came through the entrance door, I knew that I couldn't do anything but to stay as normal as possible.

I sat down as all of us started eating, I looked at the woman as she looked back at me with a smile, a soft one. Like Alex's death never happened. But I just slightly shivered and gave her a normal smile, the smile that I used to wear before this day, but it was clear to me that I was terrified.

And that woman shouldn't be trusted.
