A new town, a new job...
Fayette was overwhelmed, to say the least. The biggest challenge about starting over is the fact that she hasn't found her feet yet. Everything was still new and confusing. She was putting in a couple of extra hours at school, trying to catch up and organise all her assigned school activities. Between school dances, school sports, extra classes and meetings, there was simply no time to breathe.
A stout knock broke her out of her work-induced haze. In her doorway stood broad shoulders and a strong jaw, with the most beautiful mop of curly hair. His rich voice made her let out a breathy inner sigh. "Hey, sorry to disturb you, Miss Fuller. Have you perhaps seen Jim and Tracy? They are supposed to have detention, but haven't made it to my class yet." "Uh, no. I haven't, sorry," she says sheepishly. She wondered if he heard her reaction to his voice. "Oh, well thanks anyway. And hey, welcome to the team." Two rows of pearly whites glowed at her. Could a man look any more perfect? As he disappeared around the corner, her whole body sagged in relief. Maybe this new job would be a little less overwhelming and a little more distracting.
As she packed up the last of her things, which mind you was enough to fill a shopping cart, and headed into the hallway, Mr Detention also came out of a door nearby. "Hey, let me help you with that," he took most of the things out of her hands and walked alongside her. "Uh, thanks," she answered breathlessly. He placed her things on the backseat of her little car and bid her a good afternoon. She watched him walk across the parking lot, admiring the way his shirt hugged his shoulders. He arrived at a deep blue truck and caught her eye as he got in. He gave his big, beautiful smile and she shyly looked away, cheeks reddening. She had officially developed a crush.
