Kaia opened her eyes, realising she had dozed off in the heat of the afternoon sun she rolled onto her front and watched as Dita left the house. How long had she been asleep? Watching the demoness as she strolled seductively down the drive, Kaia contemplated the peculiar relationship Cassiel had with her. From the waist up Dita could pass for a human if she covered her horns and didn't draw attention to the black voids of her eyes. But her muscular thighs and curved back knees added to the two large golden hooves were anything but human. From beneath a dress that was so tight Kaia was amazed her legs could even move protruded a long thin tail with a razor-sharp gold tip.
There was no denying the demoness had a dangerous feeling, exotic beauty. But the vampire hybrid was not fated to her and was not in love with her, so it perplexed Kaia why they seemed to liaise so regularly. Dita's head suddenly turned and she made eye contact with the doe, changing direction the demoness made straight for her at the same leisurely pace.
"Is there something I can do for?" Unsure what the demoness could want Kaia stood up and watched the deadly demons approach.
"No."
"He'll never be yours you know?" Dita came to a halt a few feet away from the confused hind.
"Who?"
"Cassiel. He's mine.""I don't want Cassiel." Frowning Kaia tilted her head to one side.
"Of course you do. Why wouldn't you fall for his charms like every other woman?"
"I like Cassiel, but I do not want him. I do not love him as you do." Dita narrowed her black eyes and turned her lip up revealing a row of sharp pointed teeth.
"I do not love him."
"You do." Said Kaia simply. As quick as lightning Dita's hand reached out and caught Kaia's arm around her wrist. Startled, the doe leapt back.
"Oh. You really aren't after my Cas. You want a bow."
"How do you know that?" Asked Kaia Rubbing her wrist as she yanked it back.
"I'm a demon. It's our business to know what people want. How else can we arrange trades?" Kaia's ears twitched as it was her turn to narrow her eyes.
"Trade?"
"Yes. Trade. You want your bow, I could help you get it." Dita gave her a friendly smile that made a cold tingle journey down Kaia's body. It was the most terrifying smile she had ever seen.
"And what would I have to give you in exchange for my bow?"
"Oh not much. Nothing really."
"What?" She may have been trapped in a hole for years but even she knew you didn't do deals with demons lightly.
"Just a trifle. And your payment wouldn't even be due until it expires anyway." Dita stepped closer making Kaia back away.
"She's not making a deal with you Dita!" The demoness hissed and spinning on the spot turned to face Gabriel.
"That's not your decision, vampire." Snarled the now angry demon. Her tail whipped behind her cracking in the air as she bared her fangs at an unphased Gabriel.
"Kaia. Do you want to give her your soul on your death to pass on to her father? In exchange for a bow, I will help you retrieve it if it's at all possible."
"How does she know you would? I really would. I could get it for her tonight." Gabriel dropped to one knee and placing his right hand in a fist against his left shoulder locked eyes with Kaia.
"I swear an oath before Zeus and all the Gods that I will do all in my power to reclaim your bow for you Kaia, last of the golden hinds." Dita snarled and stamped a hoof making a divot in the grass.
