The next day Haley woke up at 5 while Wes was still sound asleep. She went to the shower and hopped in. While in the shower Wes woke up and made breakfast. Haley got out of the shower and dried off. She dried her hair then put it up in a messy bun. She grabbed a pair of leggings and an oversized hoodie then headed to the kitchen.

"What's cooking good-looking," she said while laughing at Wes. "French toast, I know its your favorite, how'd you sleep?" "I didnt really sleep honestly I kept thinking about dad," she replied looking down "and you?" "Well, that couch is pretty comfy so I actually sleep alright." They ate breakfast then headed out for school.

"Hey Haley, are you going to be okay today? " He asked her, "I honestly don't know," she replied. "I have bad news," Wes studdered to get out, Haley looked at him with the saddest eyes, "We are going out of town for fall break, to the beach and I wont be home." "So I cant come over," Haley finished his sentence. "I'm so sorry Haley if I could stay I..." "Dont be sorry, go have fun." She said interrupting him.

They walked into school where they found Emily waiting for them. "Hey guys! Guess who is going to the Bahamas for fall break, ME!" She said excitedingly. Haley ran toward her first period tears falling from her eyes.

"Whats wrong with her?" Emily asked, "Both of us will be out of town during fall break" Wes said slowly, "she'll have to stay at home..." "With her drunk dad" she finished. "This is terrible, my parents wont let me stay home for a week." "Neither will mine," Wes replied sadly.

They headed to their first periods hoping lunch would come fast. Haley only had Wes and Emily, everyone else didn't care. They only period they had together was eighth and that was gym, but lunch came before that, and they always sat together.

11:45 a.m. finally came and the lunch bell rang. Haley was sitting at their booth already, with nothing in front of her. "Why don't you come grab something to eat with us," Wes said gently. "Im not hungry," they didnt bother her anymore because she had that look on her face, the one where you don't need to force something on her.

Wes went through the line with Emily, but Wes grabbed two trays and filled them both with food. They headed to the booth and sat down. He gave Haley one of the trays and said "We both know that you don't get to eat a lot at home, So you can't skip meals at school." He sat down and wouldn't let her say anything until she started eating.

Haley took a a few French fries and ate them then prepared her cheeseburger. " Thank you Wes," she said with such kindness. "I know you're having a rough time but it'll eventually get better." Haley looked at him "Yeah, okay and when is this?" Emily butted in. "Hey what if we all Skype at night before we go to bed, every night we are apart. Would that make you feel better?" She looked at Haley and she shook her head "I'd like that." "So it's settles three way skype every night!" Emily said cheerfully.

During eighth period they hung out together to discuss which time would be great for all of them. They decided on 8:00 p.m. normal time. The final bell of the day rang and Wes and Haley went to Emily's house, she was already packed and ready to go. Haley helped load up her things and her mom and dad's too. They were all ready to set off for the airport.

Emily gave Haley a hug, "Hang in there I'll be back before you know it." As they drove away Wes and Haley got into the car and went to Wes' house, on the way to his house they passed these big dark woods a mile from Haley's house. It was strange, she had never seen them before now. Now she seemed more open minded to the things around her.

"Hey Wes, have you ever seen those woods?" "Yeah, but only when I go the long way home from school, like going to Emily's," He replied normally. "Having you ever went in them?" She asked, "Are you serious right now Haley?" He said laughing "have you really never heard the legend?" "What legend?" She said all confused.

"Okay, legend is that anyone who steps into those woods always disappear, their have been reports of at least thirty five people who entered the woods and not came out," his voice got serious. "Haley, you can't go in the woods. You have to promise me, Emily and I cant lose you."
"I'll try, but no promises" she said looking at him with a sorry in her eyes.

They got to Wes' house and he told her he was leaving tomorrow. His sister and dad were already packed. Wes' mom past after giving birth to his sister Sarah He was only 10 when it happened. Wes didn't know what to pack, So of course Haley helped.

It was getting late and Wes had to be up at 3 so Haley headed home so he could get some sleep for his big trip. She climbed the tree and raised the window to find her room still a complete mess. She forgot about the mess and drifted into a deep dark sleep.
