Chapter Four~ The Bad Night

Haley woke up forgetting where she was. She got up not knowing the time, she couldn't see the sun, it was as if it was there.

She walked back out getting more bruises and cuts on her from the thorns and branches. When she reached the road it was as she saw daylight for the first time. She ran the mile back to get house and climbed the tree. When she got in her room she looked at the time 8:59. "Oh no" she thought "Emily and Wes will already be on." She grabbed her computer and logged on.

Sure enough there was Wes and Emily waiting. "You had us worried Haley!" Wes said as soon as he saw her. "Sorry last night I went to those woods and I found the small quite little opening and I slept there." "Wait you mean the dark woods?" Emily exclaimed, "yeah" Haley said slowly looking at Wes. "I thought we made a deal Haley?" Wes said upsetting.

"I said no promises Wes and you know that, I think I should go." Haley ended the call and closed her laptop. She felt bad for going in the woods, but then again she didn't. It was peaceful to her, like she had no worries in the world.

She walked downstairs to get some breakfast to find her dad passed out on the couch. She headed to the kitchen and grabbed a bagel and headed back upstairs. She grabbed her phone and texted Wes 'Hey im sorry I went to the woods I had no where else to go it wasn't that bad or scary either. Branches and thorns are all that but me.' She looked at the time '10:30' then sat her phone down waiting for a reply while eating her bagel.

It was around 1:45 when Wes texted her back,
'Its okay im just worried something will happen to you'
'nothing will happen to my Wes'
'Haley you dont know that, but I got to go. See you when its time to Skype'

At 8:00 p.m. Haley got on her skype and waited for Emily and Wes to get on. When they got on Emily talked about her day and so did Wes. "I wish my dad cared enough to take me on vacations," Haley didnt mean to let that slip, but it did.

"Haley you know I probably could've got my parents to let you come with us" Emily said trying to cheer her up. "Same here" Wes butted in "You know how much my parents love you." "You guys, its a family vacation, not family plus Haley, even if they wouldn't mind I wouldn't want to intrude. "You are family" Wes and Emily said in sink.

After talking for hours it was 10:00 p.m. Haley decide to go downstairs to see what her dad was doing. He was yelling at the pizza man. "Dad stop," Haley got in between them and gave the pizza man the money. "Sorry, he drink alot" she closed the door as she took the pizza, "keep the change" she said while finish I closing the door.

"Why are you getting into my fights and telling people I drink? Are you try I to get beat?" Her dad was very angry. He took the pizza from her hands and slung it across the room. "Dad what are you doing?" Haley was frightened and tried to make her way around him, not knowing what will happen next.

She tried to make her way around him. "No" he shouted as he grabbed her shoulders and shoved her against the door, "you're not getting away from me that easily again." Haley started to cry she was frightened he'd never acted this bad before.

"Daddy please, I dont want you to hurt anyone," Haley had fear in her eyes when he looked at her. "The only person i'm going to hurt is you," he threw her down on the floor and raised his fist. "Daddy please don't do this, I know the real you is in there deep down somewhere," "this is the real me."

He hit her face and slapped her, giving her a black eye and many bruises on her body. He beat her until he got so drunk he passed out. Haley laid on the floor a while in pain and crying, when she got up it was 10:30 and Haley headed out the door. She headed towards the woods and ran there while crying.

When Haley reached the woods they looked darker than ever. She darted into the woods running as fast as she could to her place. When she got to the opening she stopped and looked around, "this isnt good enough" she thought to herself. She headed deeper into the woods and deeper until she didn't even know which way was home.

There was rustling in a bush near bu which made Haley jump, "who's there" she said nervously. Another noise from behind her, she jumped as she turned around "what do you want." She heard the noise again. "This isnt funny," one last time she heard the noise. "If you're trying to scare me its not working," Haley said this with such confidence. "Am I not that scary," a deep voice from the shadows around her said, "let me change your mind."

The mysterious man came up behind Haley and held something to her face. "Dont fight and breath deeply and this will all be over," Haley kicked and tried to scream and hold her breath but it didn't work slowly she started becoming unconscious, breathing in the chloroform. She was scared as she took what felt like her last breath.
