Pros:1.It stays faithful to the source material while making the chipmunks more real-life chipmunks than how they are potrayed in the cartoons. 2.Jason Lee does a decent performance as David Seville, The same goes for David Cross as Ian Hawke and Cameron Richardson as Claire. . 3.The chipmunks' clothing seems faithful to their designs expect for Alvin's cap. 4.David Seville is a relatable protagonist  and gets some character devlopment he went from a selfish guy who only cared about fame but when Ian trys to take Dave out of the picture he became selfless to be a better person while David is unlikable in this film this is a step in which David Seville is being a better person. 5.Plenty of funny and heartwarming moments. 6.It delievers strong messages about family comes first before fame. 7.Christopher Lennertz's score is passable to hear. 8.Very good acting patricuarly from David Cross, with the expection of Jason Lee. 9.The concept is intresting in which Dave and the Chipmunks met each other. 10.The dedication of Ross Bagdasarian Sr. was touching also making this the saddest Alvin and the Chipmunks movie ever. 11. Matthew Gray Gubler, Justin Long and Jesse McCartney do a good job voicing the Chipmunks all thanks to the help of Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman the original voices of Alvin, Simon and Theodore

Cons:1.It has disgusting content in a kids film (YOU KNOW THIS IS FOR KIDS!) 2. It has too much product placement from Wii, Nickelodeon (the producer of Spongebob) and among others. 3.The chipmunks were flanderized in this film becoming from being comical, likable and relatable characters in the 1980's cartoons to a very generic troublemakers and they also act like total brats to David Seville however they started to improve in the next four movies. 4.Dave while not being flanderized the least is a Butt-monkey in the film and he can be unlikable in the film. 5.Alvin's design is wrong he never wears a cap like he does in the 1980's cartoons. 6.Jason Lee, while decent does a weak performance as David and his Ross Sr and his son's yell doesn't help. 7.Ross Bagdasarian Jr. and Janice Karman do not reprise their roles as the chipmunks and it doesn't feel the same that's because Fox wanted marketable attachable names but it's not their fault if They want to the voices than why not? 8.The biggest problem of this film is the loss of Ross B. Sr. and this film did not turn excatly how it planned. 9.Claire Wilson while likable is a lackluster and generic love intrest and is never metioned or seen again after this (however Cameron Richardson hated her experience in this film explaining her absence in the second, third and fourth installments)
