Smoke billowed from the smouldering ash, remnants of a village that once stood.

"A good start Emilia, but I believe you left one behind"

A young girl, hardly through her fifth year, stumbles over the rubble. Her skin singed with black smoke, clinging tightly to a small bear, missing a few fabric limbs but still somehow holding together.

"She's just a child, just a girl"

"So were you"

With that a single stream of fire, hot enough to singe the Devil himself, shot from her hands. Finishing the task she was given for good.

Hands drag me from the deep sleep I seemed to be stuck in.

"Ellodie. You told me they stopped" My mother, Marie , exhaled. Worry lines pulling at her face.

"They did, I haven't had a dream like that In months mom, I promise you" I replied to her, my hands reaching out to smooth out the wrinkles she had began to display. She whispered a quick "raffreddare" into her hand and rested it onto my clammy forehead.

"I'm okay mom, I just need to take a second to breathe". Accepting my pathetic excuse, she left the room after sending me a comforting smile. Mothers must have their own kind of magic, purely stored in their smiles because my mom's could make me feel better in any situation.
