Previously on Mind Games: CIA Operative Bell has been released from captivity and recruited by Roman Torchwick. With her aura unlocked, Bell will be making her mark in the world of Remnant!

Except, why are her memory flashes getting worse?

Location: Kingdom of Vale, City of Vale

Warehouse District, Torchwick Hideout

Bell POV

It's been a couple of hours since my aura was "reawakened", according to Roman. Which is strange, I've already had it unlocked? I have no recollection of this ever occurring, because I'd know if I was able to block bullets!

Then again, I haven't been able to remember much of anything.. which saddens me greatly. Given mine and Jacob's predicament: aka not being on Earth anymore, AND not knowing if the family I can remember EVEN exists, I've decided to remain here. At least, I can build a life for myself, away from the influence of the CIA and Soviets.

My decision shook Jacob to the core, I can tell this man cares a great deal for me. But alas, our path's are diverging. He has a family to go back to on Earth, if he can even get back in the first place. Whilst I know nothing but pain and betrayal back in that god forsaken hellhole. Jacob tried to convince me to let him stay here with me, but I cannot let him. His heart is in the right place at the very least..

Also, Roman apparently wants Jake and I as "associates" in his schemes to rob a luxury of this world called "Dust". Normally, I wouldn't stoop to the level of common thievery, but since I have no money -which is called Lien-, and I know no one asides from Roman and Neo, I suppose I have to start somewhere, right? Our first assignment begins on Sunday, we are to transport Dust by shipping container at one of the docks in Vale Harbor. I don't know how Roman plans on doing that, but I don't question it.

Jacob walks into the room. Roman apparently wanted to try and unlock Jake's aura, let's see how well it worked.

Jacob has a smile on his face, he puts out an arm, when his body starts glowing in a baby blue color.

Jacob: Whoosh! Check it out, Bell! I have an aura too!

[AN: Yes, I decided to give Jacob an aura. Why? Well, it's my story, that's why!]

I laugh at Jake's child-like astonishment, then blush in embarrassment. I did the same thing..

Before Jake can see my rosy cheeks, I quickly change the subject.

Bell: So, how did it go?

Jacob stops flaring his aura, and faces me.

Jacob: It went well! I was nervous because of the whole "not being from this world" shtick, but it went off without a hitch. It tickled at first, like an itch you can't scratch. But once my body started glowing, I felt great! It was like I was a teenager again, stretching before the big homecoming game!

Bell: I felt the same way. Once my hand healed up, I felt like a brand new toy, fresh out of the box! This aura stuff is really neat!

As I look at Jacob's smile, my earlier thoughts continue to linger.

As if he's a mind reader, his smile falters and gains a sorrowful expression.

Jacob: Are you sure I can't change your mind? I'd enjoy it if you can either come back to Earth with me, or if I can stay here with you.

I sadly smile.

Bell: Jake... we both know either of those won't work. I have a chance to be someone here, and you have a family back home. Our destinies lie in different places. You're a very dear friend to me, and it pains me to think like that.. but it's for the best, Jake.
