Chapter 3

"YA KO MOON YOUNG"An annoying voice called me out.
Turning my head towards the caller's direction, I saw a young girl in her 20's waving her hand at me. She then started striding towards my direction, her lips coloured with a tone of bold red, slightly parted that allowed me to take a glimpse at her tongue licking her teeth; she looked intimidating. Her walk was all model-like. Her attire consisted of a black blazer printed with bold details of gold paired with palazzos with lacy ends. Her black platforms clicked with every step she took forward. The wavy curls of her dark cocoa hair bounced up and down.
She halted right in front of me. I glared at her with my arms crossed as she did the same excluding the arm crossing. Her eyes scanned me from top to bottom. Her serious expression dropped dead switching to an adorable smile as she leapt and draped her long arms around my neck almost strangling me. She was none other than my best friend Choi sooji.
"I missed you," she said to me cutely"I didn't miss you" my voice came out squeaky as i struggled to carry out the process of respiration. She eventually let go of me as her hands moved from the nape to my shoulders; finally allowing me to breath;"What?" She asked me a but taken back. Her smile had faded as she looked at me in desbelief. "kidding" I said while letting out a chuckle. "Congratulations on your new job moonyoungie" she congratulated me in an enthusiastic tone, her smile once again visible on her face. She linked her arms with mine as we started strolling.
"So how's my favourite best friend feeling now? I mean these last week's all you've done is study your ass off locked up in your own house" she asked me in a kind of worried calm tone. My gaze shifted from the path towards her face.
"First of all; I'm your only best friend and second; I feel kinda relaxed; the burden upon my shoulders is a whole lot lighter now. I can finally breathe properly, to be honest" I felt her arm unlinking from mine as she positioned it on my back sliding it towards my shoulders and caressing it. "You've done well," she remarked her exquisite sculpted eyes crinkling up to form little crescents. As she opened I could see hints of chocolate brown swirling in her honey-kissed eyes as it glinted from the rays of the white sky. Her expression made an impact on me as the corners of my mouth curved up to form a smile.
She bound her arm into mine once again as she tugged me closer. "When do you start" she questioned her gaze fixed on the path ahead. "They said this Friday" I answered back. "Friday? damn, that's the day after!" She exclaimed as her eyes enlarged.
"Mhm"she mummed.
We stopped in front of a cafe; the outside was ed with white Christmas trees that had adornments of various types dangling down from its branches; the aroma of cinnamon and baked goodies teased my cold nose. The exterior of the cafe establishment looked as heavenly as the eats they provided. Our favourite spot. We'd always stop by hereafter classes in university to have their signature cold lattes which were very cooling after long summer days of intense studying and sweating.
The bell that hung on top of the door dinged at our arrival as we stepped into the building. The walls were now ornated with small stars and lights as an indication of Christmas approaching. The typical furniture was now replaced with wooden tables and chairs which had golden trees engraved onto its surface. Vanilla scented candles lit on the tabletops with pinecones laying baby its side. The design gave off cosy winter vibes.
It wasn't as packed as it usually would be leaving a lot of tables vacant and also allowing us to pick anyone we liked. We selected one beside the glass wall window giving us a full view of what's happening outside. Seating ourselves comfortable we hung our coats on the chairs, staring outside as we waited for one of the waiters to approach us.
the pathways were draped with white fluffy snow which was covered with track marks of people as they strolled along merrily; a small girl came close to the window from the outside and began smiling at me. Her chubby little finger drew a small heart on the condensed air on the window influenced by the weather. This tiny action caused me to flash a smile at her... She then waved goodbye at me and skipped happily to her mother clenching her hand as they strode away.
I looked over to soojin who was busy gawking at the menu. Her focus was entirely fixed on it.
"What do you wanna order?" She asked me trading her gaze from the menu card to mine.
"I'm good with anything" I replied since all the food they provided were top-notch.
"Hmm k" she muttered as she once again glanced back at the menu.
I was engaged tapping on my phone when I heard a voice ask "what would you like ladies?"
It was a well-built man dressed in a white dress shirt paired with black jeans; a green, red and white combo fabric bound across his slender waist. His name tag read "Nicholas Lee". His apparel was uniform depicting that he was one of the staff.
"Weird name for a man like him" I said to myself in my mind.
"Did you say anything miss?" He queried. His head tilting towards the side.
Or I may have just been really dumb to say that out loud as I said in my mind.for real this time.while slapping my forehead at what I had done.
"Oh uh.nothing. but....Two pumpkin and cinnamon lattes please" I requested.
The man came near me positioning one of his hands on the slab. His sleeves were rolled up until his elbow joints the veins on his arm popped up. "Anything else?" He queried with a flirty expression. One of his eyebrows propped up his mouth forming a smirk.
Was he flirting with me? I leaned back a bit and nodded my head implying a 'no'. From the nook of my eye, I could see soojin scowling intensely at the waiter. The waiter then stood up properly writing down our order. He then turned his head towards soojin as he asked the same question to her. "We would like you to go and grab our drinks rather than using your lame ass flirting skills at us please" she answered back grinning sarcastically. this girl was never afraid to start her hones opinions gosh. The waiter was clearly taken aback as he enlarged his eyes and walked away letting out a scoff. Soojin rolled her eyes as she plummeted her smile. "Men disgust me" she abruptly remarked which made me let out a giggle. "What?" She asked with and 'im did with this shit" kinda face. "Nothing...you just so adorable when you angry". "I am not!" She blurted with an irritated pout. "Cute" I asserted again followed by another giggle.
The waiter who had taken our order came back to our table with our drinks. Placing the glasses down on the tabletop with a small bang he gave soojin one last glare and stomped away. Soojin however ignored his action and started sipping on her drink. The exchange between the two was absurd. I could hear swearing at him under a breath. Shaking my head in disbelief I let out a chuckle as I swirled my latte.
We were done with our drinks as we walked over to the counter to pay for them. The girl at the counter was an absolute sweetie, unlike some other people. The waiter Nicholas was standing behind leaning on the counter with his back his arms crossed as he gawked at us angrily. "Adios Nicholas.Lee" soojin spat at the waiter giving him another cold smile as she waved at him. Walking out of the establishment we were once again greeted by the frosty breeze and snow.
