"does that sound right?" eva asks from inside the sound booth. it was another week, and the band was back at the studio, laying down new vocals, and touching up old ones.

aspen currently had evangeline touching up some of her lead vocals on 'cray z babe e', since that was the next single they planned on releasing, due to all of the fan love it got from the tease they did on their livestream.

"uhhhh, try another one." aspen says, concentrated on his computer. eva nods her head as the track starts back.

she sings the end of the chorus, but messes up slightly, making her stop. "ughhh, i hated that. let me try again." she groans, the perfectionist side of her shining through today.

she had been frustrated with herself all day, because she had it been on her a- game, and it was obvious to everyone else, but they didn't want to say something to her, and set her off even more.

"how long do we let her do this before one of us steps in?" tommy questions the rest of the group that was sat on the floor, watching their best friend keep frustrating herself.

"just let her do her thing. she'll get the hang of it eventually." cierra reassures them.

after multiple tries on the same part of the song, aspen stops the track, giving evangeline a look. "eva, what's up, babe?"

"i don't know. i'm having trouble with the last part of the chorus and i don't know why." she sighs. aspen nods his head, typing on his computer for a second. "try practicing it without the track real quick, see if that helps." he suggests.

evangeline puts one of the headphones on the side of her head, so she could hear herself better. "into my arms." she sings, but she still wasn't getting softness that the lyric was supposed to have.

knowing it was wrong, she huffs, ripping the headphones off of her head, placing them on the stand. "why can't i do this! i just had it the other day." she exclaims, as tears threaten to run down her face.

"i don't know, angel, maybe just shake it off and try again." aspen tries. he wasn't good at the whole comforting people thing.

she shakes her head, taking her prescription glasses off, and putting her hands over her eyes. "i can't— i just need a minute." she says, her voice wavering as she walks out of the booth, past her band mates, leaving the room.

they all call her name, worry washing over all of their faces in different forms.

everyone looks around at each other, silently asking who was going to go after her, and dylan didn't hesitate to put his guitar down, and leave the room to run after evangeline.

"they're gonna get married one day." aspen shakes his head as he watched the brown haired boy leave the room.

"i wouldn't be shocked." leilani shrugs.

dylan jogs out of the studio, to find evangeline leaning against a pole, tears streaming down her face. "eva, you alright?" he asks, realizing how stupid of a question it was.

"yeah, dylan, i'm fine. i just need a minute to stop having a bitch fit and get it together." she huffs, avoiding eye contact with the boy.

dylan hated seeing evangeline like this. beating herself up over every imperfection she had, or mistake she made. she was way too hard on herself and he hated seeing it. it drained her so much, and everyone could see it.

"eva....." he trails off. she finally looks at him, but regrets it immediately. as soon as she locked eyes with dylan, she burst into tears, being pulled into his chest.

"it's so hard, dylan. having all of this pressure suddenly put on me to be perfect, or not to mess up. i didn't expect it to be this hard. i can't take it, i just can't. it's so draining. mentally, emotionally, physically—everything, this whole 'famous' thing isn't fun at all." she pours her heart for the first time in months.

"i get hundreds of dms everyday, bashing me, or telling me i'm not as pretty as everyone says i am, and it hurts me. i know it shouldn't, but it does. people tell me i sound horrible, they say i'm only famous because i'm pretty. it's just too much."

dylan did nothing but listen as the girl in his arms poured her heart out, sobs escaping every now and again. it was breaking his heart listening to how much she was bottling up. it also hurt that she felt like she couldn't come to him about all of this.

"you gotta stop pressuring yourself evangeline. im not lying when i say you're doing amazing. we wouldn't be the dream without you and you know that." dylan tells her, caressing her head softly to calm her heavy breathing.

he pulls away from her to look at her face, placing both of his hands on the side of her face. he examines her face, blown away by how beautiful she was, even with her puffy eyes, and slightly red face. her dark brown eyes were bloodshot, but he could still find the beauty in them.

"trust me when i tell you this. eva you're beautiful. you need to know that, because you are, and don't let anyone else try and convince you otherwise, especially people who's opinions don't matter." he says, his voice soft, but assuring enough for her to believe every word he was telling her.

she smiles up at him, laughing lightly. dylan gives her a look of confusion, wondering why she had a sudden change in mood. "what?" he questions.

"nothing. you're just really cute when you're mushy." she smiles, making him laugh.

"i won't let it happen again." he jokes, pulling the girl towards him. he places a light kiss on her forehead, making her lean into his touch slightly. he pulls away, using his thumbs to wipe away the rest of her tears.

"now how about we go back up there and you kill your part?" he suggests, making evangeline nod her head.

dylan wraps an arm around his neck, as they walk back towards the studio in higher spirits.

the pair walk back into the studio, and evangeline is immediately swarmed by the rest of the band.

they gather around her, pulling everyone into a big hug. "you okay, babe?" cierra asks. evangeline nods her head, glad to have her best friends here with her.

"we got your back, you know that right?" tommy questions, pulling the younger girl into his side.

"yeah, i know tommy, thanks." she smiles up at him.

"good. now go in there and knock that part out like we know you can." he encourages her, kissing the side of her head lightly, making her smile.

and eventually after a couple more tries, she finally got the part down just the way she wanted, earning proud cheers from everyone in the room.

in this moment, evangeline knew this is where she wanted to be, and these were the people she knew she could trust with her life.

this was her new family.
