(Y/N)'s wake up call came in the form of a little hand patting her cheek. She slowly opens her eyes and looks up to see her daughter standing there grinning and pointing to John who was curled around her on the couch. She blushes softly as she covers her daughter's hand on her cheek with hers. "Mama, did you and Mr. John fall asleep watching movies? Me and you do that all the time." The little girl giggles and twirls in her mismatched lime green skirt and dark blue shirt with knee high pink striped socks and tennis shoes. "I got dressed all by myself, mama. Can we get donuts before school?" She asks with the energy that only a small child would have at 6:30 in the morning. (Y/N) laughs softly and lifts John's arm off of her and sits up, tugging her daughter's shirt down and patting her little hip. "Yeah, sweetpea, we were watching a movie and just fell asleep. Now, let's do your hair and mama will see about donuts, okay?" She smiles and kisses the top of her daughter's head as she stands and ushers the little girl to the bathroom. She brushes her hair and puts it up into pony tails on either side of her head. "Go grab your backpack, sweetie." She watches her go get it while she checks her banking app on her phone. She sighs as she sees there's not much there. It's not unusual to see that given that she was a single mother just trying to make ends meet. She wipes the frown off of her face when she hears (y/d/n) come back in with her backpack. "I'm ready mama. When we get donuts can I get a chocolate milk too, please?" She asks sweetly, taking her mama's hand and looking up at her. (Y/N) nods and gives her daughter a soft, loving smile. "Of course you can, honey. Now let's go tell Mr. John bye and I'll get you to school." She watches her daughter practically beam at the mention of John. It scared her how attached the little girl was already becoming to John. That was one of the main reasons she hadn't dated. She didn't want her daughter to get attached to a man that wouldn't stick around. She follows (y/d/n) to the living room, smiling as she sees John sitting up and talking to her daughter. "Well, if it isn't my best girl. You look beautiful this morning." He smiles and tugs one of her ponytails playfully. "If you're good at school today, I'll have your mama bring you to the ranch this weekend and I'll take you for a ride on Blaze. What do you say?" The little girl squeals in excitement and hugs him tightly. "I'll be the best I've ever been, Mr. John." She giggles and skips out the door to the car.
(Y/N) smiles at the scene and walks over to John after her daughter went to the car. "I uh...since Ruby gave me the day off, I thought I'd see if you wanted to stick around...maybe spend the day together?" She asks nervously, not used to asking a man to spend time with her. It made her feel like she was begging for attention, but those nerves flew out the window the minute John pulled her down for a long, slow kiss. He pulls back and looks at her with a soft smile. "Couldn't think of a better way to spend the day, sweetheart. Now go get that precious little girl to school and get your sweet ass back here." He winks and slaps her ass playfully before sending her on her way. She grins, squealing softly as he smacks her ass. She heads out the door with a faint blush to her cheeks, excited to spend the day with John, just the two of them. She smiles as her daughter sings along to the radio on the way to town. She swings through the donut shop drive through and orders her daughter's favorite, a pink iced donut with sprinkles and a chocolate milk. She hands it to her and drives the rest of the way to the school, getting out and helping (y/d/n) get her back pack out. She makes sure she has her donuts and her lunch and kisses her head. "Be good, baby. I'll pick you up this afternoon." She smiles as her daughter's eyes go wide and she gives an excited squeal before running into the school. Usually she was working the diner in the evenings until after 6, so it was a special treat for the little girl to have her mama pick her up instead of Lu. She waits until the door closes behind her daughter before climbing back into the car and heading home. Her mind was all over the place, worried about bills, her little girl getting attached to John, hell she was worried about herself getting attached to John. Already he'd spent more time with her and her little girl than any other man had. She hoped she wouldn't regret this in the near future. She'd always kept men at arm's length for the sake of her and her daughter, but especially her precious baby girl. She sighs and steps out of the car, heading up into the house.
