Chapter 2

(Princess)

I awakened in the hospital and I realized I was handcuffed to my bed. After a few minutes two detectives walked in. I instantly recognized them. They been trying to take me down for the past year. I always found my way out of trouble because my cop friend Jane Adams always made evidence go away and she got paid nice. "I never thought I see the day I arrest you" said detective Pinch. I laughed and told him the charges won't stick and he smirked at me. "Other than seizing ten grand worth on cocaine from your incoming shipment, we also have you on assault in the first degree and six counts of involuntarily manslaughter. That car accident you was in, killed the truck driver, and the four people in the other car and one of them is left in a coma. You're also being charge with a DUI because you were way over the legal limit. You're not getting out of this" he said. I quickly told him I wanted my lawyer and once he arrived I let him know everything. I let him know I wasn't behind the wheel. According to him, Damien wasn't at the scene of the crash. He was at the party and I was behind the wheel. I couldn't believe what was happening. A little while later I learned I had nothing more than a concussion, a broken leg, and cuts and bruises. I was released from the hospital a few hour later and went straight to jail. I was being held without bond. The next day I was transferred where I would be awaiting trial in a few days. I met up with my lawyer and he let me know Damien is testifying against me for beating his baby mother. He let me know she's in a vegetative state and the baby didn't make it. I was smiling on the inside and after our meeting I spent the rest of the day in solitary confinement. The next day was the first day of my trail. I saw my employees sitting there and then I saw Damien and the victims families. After opening statements, Damien was called as the first witness. He really testified against me and told the court I was driving and he never left the party. I was infuriated but I didn't show it. After his testimony we went to recess and court would resume tomorrow. The next day I was called to the stand and explained Damien was driving. I don't know how much people will take my side since I'm the boss and everyone wanted me off the streets for years. After closing arguments it didn't take long for the jury to come back with a verdict. I was found guilty on all charges and I pleaded guilty to the drug charges because there was no way I get out of that one. But I couldn't put together how the police found out about the shipment. I've always been very careful. The judge told me I was sentenced to twenty five years with the possibility of parole. That night I was on the road to a maximum security prison.
