Chapter 10: Catching You

"Gram..."
I called him softly. I can't go on with what I want to say. If what he said is real, he's been really nice and kind to my brother the whole time.
Gram shrugged, smiled at me, and continued with the copy. "When you're happy, it's okay not to think about me. I'm fine with that, I understand," he smiled. I can feel he means it when he said that and he really didn't get angry about it. However, I feel really bad about it.
"I feel really sad and bad about it," I said from the bottom of my heart. Black can be very cruel at times, treating Gram as a conduit for him to express his emotions.
"Sorry." I apologized on behalf of my brother.
"There's nothing to be sorry for, we're friends," he smiled at me again. I smiled back and ruffled his hair. He started to laugh.

the next morning
Gram woke me up early in the morning at 8. He let Lucky into the room and the dog sat on my face the moment he jumped into bed. I thought I was almost going to suffocate to death. I pushed the dog away after coming to my senses. Gram, who saw it all, didn't even help, but he still looks like he's laughing about it. I covered myself with the blanket to go back to sleep, but Gram dragged me out of bed. He told me to help him water the plants and wash the car.
He didn't even let me shower and change clothes. All I did was wash and brush my teeth. I'm still dressed in his clothes.
"Hey Gram," I was mumbling as I was dragged to the first floor. "Can you at least take pity on me? I didn't even get much sleep yesterday."
We did nothing but talk last night. I'm a very talkative person, Gram is no better. We talked almost all night. When I'm with Sean, I don't sleep until 11 pm. That's because he always teases me and makes me uncomfortable to continue talking. I feel very relaxed with Gram, after all he is different from Sean, who confessed to me.
But Gram is so cruel, waking me up at 8 am.
"Let's go! My house doesn't like lazy people! Go out and water the plants, trees, and flowers!"
I take back my words about him being kind
Gram pushed me and dragged me out the door. I sighed and grudgingly grabbed the water hose. I started watering the plants while he smiled looking at me and got ready to wash the car.
"Don't we need to go to school today?" I asked. Gram replied, "We're on vacation for three days. Today is the first day."
"Oh..."

"Hey, stop watering in the same place. Do you want to kill my plants?" Gram's screams startled me and I quickly moved the hose to the other side.
