The smell of fresh air hit my face as I made my way out of the airport. Muggles dashed, and drivers honked at each other to move out of their way. As I try to find a cab, I can't help but think back on how much my life has changed in the last year. I now have a perfect boyfriend and the most incredible friends anyone could ask for, yes, even Ronald. My parents also supported me in going across the ocean to Hogwarts, but when I returned for summer, they wouldn't let me leave their sight once. I was surprised they didn't make me sleep in the same bed as them or that Mum didn't go to the toilets with me every time I went. She tried once, but I'd rather not talk about it.The most heartbreaking thing is that this will be the final year at Hogwarts. I feel like I have fallen in love with something, only for it to be snatched away. I will have no excuse to return unless I decide to move here. That would mean leaving my family. I'm not sure if I want to do that or if I can do it. But I could do it for a person I love.
The sound of a horn honking broke me out of my thoughts, and I saw a cab waiting for someone to pick me up. My snitch, my owl, chirped at me as I pushed my trolley as fast as possible to get the cab before someone else would. Harry will expect me at five o'clock, and we will have coffee together. Then, I will stay at the burrow and wait for Harry to arrive the following day. When I got to the car, the driver rolled down his window and gave me a toothless smile.
"Do you have somewhere to go, miss?" The cab driver questions while looking at me with lust.
I shiver with disgust, load up my trunk, and snitch. The cab smells like strong cologne, only jocks and stuck-up gits wear like Draco Malfoy. The cab wasn't as dirty as in New York; it had clean leather seats and seat belts that worked.
"I need to go to 4 Privet Drive in the suburb of Little Whinging, "I tell him as I read Harry's address.
The man gave me another creepy, toothless smile before speeding out of the airport. I quickly closed my eyes when I felt sick due to the speed, but I quickly opened them when I saw Severus's eyes shining with happiness. My eyes jolt open, and I quickly look around me; I sigh with relief and see no sign of Severus in this stuffy cab. His face haunts me every time I close my eyes; I would rather live the cruciatus curse again than deal with seeing his face every night. My mind and my heart seem to be at war because of this, and it's slowly killing me. My mind tells me to forget him and tell me why I should be thinking about someone who called me a mudblood anyway. Now, my heart seems to think I should forgive him and ride off into the sunset on a horse named Arthur. I have yet to figure out how my heart is forgetting the feeling I have for Harry, and I couldn't break his heart because I knew a piece of mine would break with it.
"We are here, miss." The creepy cab driver told me as we sat in front of a small brick house.
The frown on my face was replaced with a smile, and I quickly shoved him the money I owed him. I promptly left the cab, not bothering to wait for the change, and unloaded my trunk and Snitch. As I go to the door, a wave of nervousness shoots through my body. Harry told me his aunt and uncle are rude muggles, but I don't want to make a wrong impression on his family. As I reach the dark brown door, the cab speeding away fills my ears.
When I reach the tall wood door, I take a deep breath and lift my hand to knock on the door. I could hear people talking inside, and a football game was playing on the telly. My hand has gone up and down while I debate whether to knock or run away and see Harry tomorrow at the burrow. My nerves finally calmed as I decided to stop being a coward and act like a Gryffindor. I was so close to knocking that a middle-aged lady, looking flustered and tired, opened the door. She had dark brown hair and bright green eyes. She looks like an older version of my sister. I swear her eyes grew ten times bigger when she noticed I was there.
"Lily?" She questions before engulfing me in a big hug.
A gasp of shock left my mouth as she started crying. I know I should feel bad that she thinks I am her dead sister, but I don't. All I could think was, 'Oh, not this again.' I hoped Harry would rescue me from his crying aunt. Luckily, my silent prayers were answered when Harry appeared inside the house. His jaw dropped as he saw his aunt crying on my shoulder, and he quickly let out a little chuckle, which made me glare at him. I mouthed help me to him, and he just leaned back on the door frame and shook his head no while winking at me.
"Um, Mrs. Dursley, My name is Lily, but I am not who you think I am," I told her while patting her back awkwardly.
She slowly let me out of her death grip hug, and I shit you not, it was worse than Molly's hugs. Mrs. Dursley's eyes were bloodshot, and tears were streaming down her face. I looked back to Harry and gave him puppy dog eyes for him to help, and with that, he finally gave in and walked over to me and his confused aunt. She looks up to notice Harry there and then quickly turns back to stare at me with confusion. I tried my hardest not to laugh at her face, but she looked like a deer caught in headlights.
"Petunia, this is my girlfriend, Lily," Harry tells his aunt, grabbing my hand in comfort.
My body seemed to have melted under his touch, which made my face blush brick red. Petunia's face soon turned hard, and she glared at me and looked at me with disgust. Some muggles these days are something else. A fat man with white hair and a mustache came through the door as if looking for something. When he noticed Petunia, he let out a deep sigh, confirming that it was Petunia he was looking for, and that meant he must be Harry's uncle. Oh great, I have to deal with both of them simultaneously; my odds are definitely not in my favor.
"As much as I would love to stay and chat, Harry and I have places to be," I tell them in a rush.
I grab Snitch and my trunk before running down the road with Harry following me. We made it to a small park outside the suburb. I drop my trunk and gently sit down, Snitch. My breathing was loud and heavy, which made me realize I needed to exercise more, but then I thought, hmm, better not. I look up to see Harry looking at me with a big smile. I finally noticed how different Harry looked outside of Hogwarts. He was wearing a red jacket with black stripes down his arms. His shirt was gray and darker around the collar, and his bum looked excellent in his dark, faded denim jeans.
"Are you done checking me out, Ms.Duchannes?" Harry questioned me, which made my cheeks go bright red, matching my bright ginger hair.
"Excuse me?" I ask him while folding my arms across my chest.
"Oh, you're excused." He told me with a sly smirk playing on his lips.
And that my friend is my lovely boyfriend, Harry Potter the Lord of Sass.
