What's my misery?
When all you hear is he,
He who ruined everything you built.
I am leaving you as poor as dirt.
How crueler can you ask that I can be?

Tobias POV

I walked, well ran out of the school. I needed to get home as fast as I could and as I slid into my old beat-up truck. I realized I didn't have my keys.

"God Damnit!" I screamed. A knock on the window, and I saw Sebastian.

He pointed his thumb at a sleek-looking Mustang and nodded. So I got out and followed him to what I believed to be his car. It was a sexy-looking thing, and I'd marry Sebi in a heartbeat to be able to drive it once. I slid in and felt my heart jump to my throat as Sebi started her up. She gave a purr. He pulled out of the school driveway.

"Where to?" He asked.

"3908 Merchant Street," I whispered. My house was big, bigger than most due to Daddy's money. The man was still an abusive bitch. My house was towering, white on the inside and outside. My brothers and I shared the basement and Attic. The only kid who had a room on the ground floor was Blue Jay, my older brother's daughter. Steele was 16 when Blue Jay was born, but due to my father's anger, he didn't live to see her first birthday. She was the light of my life, taking up the last of the room in my heart.

We pulled up to my house, only for me to see a small girl with fiery hair and mountain green eyes. Sebi stopped the car, and I jumped out. The girl glanced up tear-stained porcelain skin. She jumped up and came running at me. I wrapped her up in my arms and hugged her to my chest.

"Papa!" She cried. I shooshed her and tried to calm her down.

"It's ok, Blue Jay," I whispered, "everything ok."

Sebi came and stood by me. Glancing at the girl, but didn't say a word.

"Grandpa," Blue Jay sniffed, "h-he. He got angry a-and I couldn't stop him."

I felt anger rise like bile in my throat, a steaming volcano in my gut. How dare he!

I shared a look with Sebi and put Blue Jay down. He walked over, kneeled, eye to eye with her.

"My name is Sebastian," he said. Blue Jay sniffled. "Do you want to go somewhere better than here?"

Blue Jay nodded and wrapped her arms around his neck. Sebi didn't hesitate and stood up with her in his arms.

He walked towards the car, and I followed. Why was he such a good person?

Lys POV

Gabriel walked next to me silently. We didn't talk, and I liked that. It was nice. I was worried about Tobias, but I would never tell him that.

"You're worried about Tobias," Gabriel said, breaking the silence. I froze and glanced at him.

"H-how did you?" I stuttered. I never stuttered! Gabriel smiled and stopped walking.

"I'm stupid, Lys," he replied. I nodded in agreement.

"I know," I replied, "our." I gulped, my Adam's apple bobbing with the motion. "Our father isn't a good person, and Tobias. H-he always takes the blame for everything. We had an older brother named Steele, and Steele has a daughter. Tobias is raising her as he raised us. His younger brothers. He never had a childhood, Gabe."

Gabriel raised an eyebrow and pulled me in for a hug. Usually, I wouldn't say I liked hugs, but this one was warm and comforting. I wrapped my arms around him. I felt tears for the first time in a while, and I didn't stop them.

"What if he gets hurt! Wh-what if Tobias gets hurt!" Gabe shushed me and pulled me closer.

"It's ok, L," he whispered, "it's ok. I'm here."

I sniffled and hid my face in his chest.

This was nice.
