The fire burned our souls,
Consuming all that we know.
Our foolish thoughts tainted our innocence.
Killing what little light we had left.°°°
A/n- for those of you who read the last book. What happened will be explained in this part of the book. K. That's all. Enjoy reading!°°°
August POV
I had left earlier than my other dear siblings, and it was now dark. I enjoyed the sting of the cold and the crunch of the snow underfoot. The empty, dark streets were enticing as I walked under the street lamps. I put a cigarette up to my lips and lit it, smoke leaking out of my nose and mixing in with my frost breath.
My lighter flame flickered as a person jogged by, making me irritated. I stopped when I noticed a tall building. Lights flashed from the windows, and music echoed through the chilly air. I pulled the cigarette away from my lips.
Cold winter nights were the best nights to go for a walk alone, but they were even better to party in.
I grinned and dropped the still smoking bud. I didn't hesitate to walk forward. A tall, blond man stood outside the door. His muscled arms were tattooed, and his long brown hair curled around his ears, framing his handsome face nicely. He looked up as I approached. He had very startling eyes; they were the color of the moon when it is shown on a clear winter's night—a silver color like no other.
"You shouldn't be wandering alone, kid," he mumbled around his cigarette. I chuckled and stuffed my hands in my leather coat pockets.
"Funny," I replied, "I was about to say the same thing to you."
He chuckled and took the cigarette away from his lips.
"I'm Viggo."
"August," I replied. He grinned.
"Wanna go have some fun, August?"
I grinned back.
"Thought you'd never ask."

We entered the nightclub. Terrible music shook the walls and vibrated through the floors. Smoke danced around the air, making the room look like something out of a movie. Viggo walked towards the bar counter and sat down heavily. I followed and sat down next to him.
He turned to me.
The bartender came walking over, sliding what smelt like whiskey on the rocks his way. Viggo caught it, and in a second, the glass was empty.
"New friend Viggo?" Asked the bartender. Viggo smiled at him.
"August," I introduce myself. I leaned forward, narrowing my eyes. "Tell me some gossip, Bartender."
The bartender just chuckled, as did Viggo.
"No can do, brother," he replied and set down a glass for me. I grinned and reached up, pulling down the collar of my shirt. An X was tattooed on my collar bone with the number 5 next to it.
"I wasn't asking la Perra," I replied. The bartender looked around and leaned in close.
"What's a Lettermen doing here?" Viggo asked. I turned to him.
"Business," I replied, "and entertainment."
"I wasn't expecting ever to get to meet one of you," the bartender mused.
I chuckled.
"Well, do I have a story for you," the tender whispered.
"Oh, please do go on!" I purred back. This ought to be good.

Tobias POV
Thunder crashed in the sky, water drenching my clothes and making my hair stick to my face. I stared down at Steele; his handsome face was blank. But his green eyes held sorrow. Even now, as he lay bleeding, he was still beautiful and kind. I hated him, and I envied him. For the hell that we grew up in, he still turned out to be mother and father perfect child.
I felt anger and jealousy rise like bile in my throat, threatening to choke me. I gripped the knife and glared down at Steele. All he did was smile.
"I forgive you, Tobias," he whispered. I watched as the light faded from his eyes, and the realization hit me like a rock.
I had just killed my older brother out of jealousy. I had just taken the life of the kindest soul I had ever known. What would my little brothers think of me now?
Oh, God! I thought. What have I done?
