Max is enjoying himself in the Red Bull garage. Singing with all the staff we are the champions. "We are the champions, my friends. And we'll keep on fighting till the end. We are the champions. We are the champions. No time for losers. 'Cause we are the champions of the World." Normally he wouldn't sing like this, but he feels different.
Max feels like he is high even though he didn't take anything. The endorphins, dopamine, adrenaline and all the other hormones that came loose when he came over the finish line are still running through his veins. Making him act like this and maybe not totally rational.
Daniel was in a debrief. They are just going on about how Lando lost his 5th place in the championship and McLaren the 3rd place in the constructor championship. Even though nobody specifically told Daniel it was his fault, it still feels that way. He was the one who didn't perform all the race's. He looks over to the other McLaren driver.
Lando looks like he is absent. Frowning his eyebrows, mouth in a straight line and eyes are unfocused. He is just glumly watching forward. He looks so disappointed in himself. It breaks Daniel's heart a little.
Lando, please don't take this so personal. You did an incredible job. One I couldn't do. Maybe I need to tell him that. He will hate that though. I will send him a text message tomorrow. I don't need to forget to do that. I will set it in my calendar.
"Daniel are you with us?" Daniel hears, pulling him out of his thoughts. "Yeah. Yeah. Please continue." Daniel needs to get trough this debrief without thinking too much. It will only make himself feel worse. Worse about his own performance this year. Daniel starts thinking about other things: Max's invite for tonight.
After the 'debrief' in the Red Bull garage, don't think singing we are the champions really counts as a debrief, Max start thinking about how to ask Daniel what he wanted to do tonight. I should text him. What should I text him? I can just send an address. Come on Max you're better than this. After thinking some more Max decides to just send a text that didn't make him cringe too much.
Daniel arrives at the club Max had sent the address of. He looks around to look if he can find the newly world champion. Daniel just needs to find the Red Bull cap which Max is probably still wearing. If he finds it, he needs to get rid of it. Why is he always wearing a Red Bull cap? He scans around again looking for Max.
Max is waiting for Daniel in a booth. He arrived with some friends, Red Bull guests and Red Bull personal. Max looks at the door of the VIP floor. Max sees the smiling idiot he calls one of his closest friends. Before Max thinks about going to Daniel he decides to look at the Australian.
The jeans with the colorful blouse combination looks good. Of course, it looks good. Daniel got style. Why do I keep wearing just denim jeans with a white blouse?? Compared to him, I look so basic.
Max walks up to him hoping Daniel will see him before he reaches him. He has no idea what to say to him. I could start with a hello. Maybe put a little joke in. 'Happy, you could make it.' No, that is lame. Let's just hope Daniel knows what to say.
