Noct's phone buzzes in his pocket as the crew heads across the plains back towards Hammerhead.
"Ring ring!" Prompto says, skipping ahead of them. It's been a lazy morning, picking up camp and picking off a few beasties they run into.
"Hello?" Noct asks as they reach the edge of the road.
Cindy's chipper voice comes through his cell. "Hey! Dave just called an' said he's safe. Thanks for finding him."
"You bet," Noctis responds.
"Nice work ya'll," Cindy can be heard saying on the other end of the line. "By the way, the old girl's looking good as new. She'll be waiting at the garage for you."
"Gotcha. Thanks," Noct says and clicks the line off.
"Back to Hammerhead then?" Gladio asks. He's far too happy to have spent a night camping under the stars. There's a spring in his step. Prompto always has a spring in his step but looked slightly rumpled this morning and needed some of the coffee Iggy brewed to really get going.
The morning is picture perfect, blue sky and golden sunshine. The few clouds that are in the sky are puffy and white. There is a small breeze, just enough to ruffle through the hair, but not enough to be chilly or annoying. The beautiful day combined with a night under the stars and a successful hunt yesterday has the company in good spirits.
"So," Gladio says, turning to walk backwards, looking at his companions. "Who's up next behind the wheel?"
"Ignis should take it and never let go," Prompto says.
"It helps that he can keep four eyes on the dash," Gladio agrees.
"I couldn't even keep one," Prompto supplies, chagrined.
"Not sure I'd do any better," Noct says, looking around at the scenery, seeing the landscape more today under the bright sun.
"Put me in the driver's seat," Ignis agrees.
"Good, 'cause I need the legroom in the back," Gladio says.
Chrys snorts. "You mean you hog the legroom in the back. I always get stuck between you and Noct and have cramps in my quads when we get out."
"That's 'cause you're the shortest," Gladio replies. "You squish down better into the middle seat."
Chrys gives a 'hmph' in reply. "Hey," Prompto says. "How about Chrys drives? We've never seen her behind the wheel?"
Noctis looks at her consideringly. "That's true, we've never seen Chrys drive before. How come I've never noticed that before?"
"Does she even have a license?" Gladio asks.
Chrys snorts again. "Don't need a license to drive. That's just a formality."
"That doesn't fill me with total confidence," Ignis mutters.
Chrys gives him a look. "I can drive," she says simply. "You just haven't needed my particular brand of driving strategy before."
"And what is your particular brand of driving?" Gladio asks, cocking an eyebrow at her.
She gives him a signature, wicked smile. "Getaway from the crime scene."
"And you've had to get away from many crime scenes?" Noct asks with a laugh.
She gives him a mischievous smile. "That's for me to know and you to never find out."
"Well, if we ever need to make a quick getaway, you can have a go," Noct says to her. She nods and gives him a flippant thumbs up.
