Hundreds of years ago...

"Dazzle, glimmer, shine, my gathered Mixels~!"

Glimmering, a well-decorated figure placed one lavish heel atop a bleak stone - a platform - before a crowd of common, tribeless Mixels. Before their dazzling form was a sea of multicolored yet drab mess. Like magic, the light shining against the rock warped, it bent, it glittered. It appeared as though the sun-facing side had been coated in golden hues emanating from the Brightspark Mixel standing atop it.

"Bathe in the light, and find your souls~!" Flaresca spoke, an aura flooding from their plentiful eyes, a smog of golden hues that spread into the gathered crowd of unsure Mixels. One such being stepped forth, a blocky, multi-colored stump of a Mixel, watching as the light wrapped around them. And, as the lightbulb sun shone brighter onto this Mixel, so did their form as it warped and glimmered, emerging from their transformation changed, coursing with electricity, having gained horns of electric energy and a yellow color.

"Ah, a first for today~! Oh, dazzler, gleamed by the celestial element of lightning, what is your name~?" Flaresca leaped to the Mixel of newfound color, twirling about them and giddy with glee for a successful conversion. "I... don't know?" They replied, examining their new claws and plug-shaped toenails. "But... all of this feels right. Though, I wonder... what is... everything?" They stood puzzled, looking onto the crowd of clueless Mixels and back to the smirking demigod.

"Flaresca..." Another voice groaned as the Brightspark Mixel whipped around in no time to gaze their eyes upon their tribemate. "Refraixen! Are you enamored by my soul-shaking, gentle timbre as these fleshlings so have been~? Or do you have word, brother?" They asked, not sighting a smile on the Mixel's face. "Duty, sibling. It's-"

"Shh... shush. Hush. Brother, silence those golden lips. You know what you need, hm?" Placing a finger against the unamused mouth of Refraixen, the more reserved Brightspark sighed and cradled his head in his palm. "What do I need, sibling?" He bit, tapping his foot with impatience and a desire to resume his duties of preparing the Mixel species with gifts of the twenty-four celestial elements.

"What you need is... soul-food~!" Flaresca struck a pose and delivered their suggestion with a soothing tone, awaiting a response of enthusiasm that never came. "Soul-food. You speak in mortal, Mixel terms. Dare I ask the definition of soul-food?" Refraixen sighed, knowing that one way or another, his sibling's carefree, caring, and careless aura had slipped under his skin and influenced this conversation.

"What do you desire most, brother? Is it the duty you so speak of, or the connections you make along the way~? The enjoyment of the moment, or the end goal in which our sole purpose is fulfilled?" They asked, prompting a genuine response. "I desire to reach our destiny, Flaresca. We have our duty. We must stay the course, it was our vow to the Maximum Mixel." He replied, considering his short-lived life up until that point and what it all meant to him.

"Oh? Our duty? Instilling color into the mortals? Of course~! You can see I accomplish that remarkably and look dashing in the act." Flaresca claimed as they held a hand out to their crowd, only finding but the yellow Mixel left as the rest had scattered to idly examine the landscape of pipe trees, cog-rocks, potholes, and sunflowers. With that, Refraixen scowled. "I get it. Soul-food. What one desires personally. Purpose. But my wants are not my needs, or what I was born for. I have placed color in fifty Mixels today and the rotation of the lightbulb sun is far from setting upon different regions of this world. You have but one. Now, as the eldest of us, what I desire is for you to act according to your vow, and-"

Silencing the heavenly Mixel, a form ejected from the stone behind the two as both Brightsparks turned to face the disturbance, observing as a twisting, tendrilled mass of shadow sputtered and slinked about. It was disgusting, a loose experiment of destruction left untended on the world. "Go. MOVE." Refraixen ordered in a panic, shoving his sibling aside as the creature lunged for the two, spiraling out of control as it leeched onto the unaware Electroid Mixel that Flaresca had instilled color into just moments ago.
