Today is the day we've been waiting on for awhile. The day we promised my mama we'll get to at all cost.
We're graduating today Thank you god. I know she'll be proud of us walking the stage like she wanted us to.
Kellon just finished Meg's hair about an hour ago since he didn't do it last night due to Meg going to sleep. I just finished getting ready so now I'm waiting on my baby and brothers to get ready so we can go. I'm happy that I got my little brother and JT back after that mall shooting that happened months ago. I'm also happy to announce something else but that you guys are gonna have to wait on. The graduation starts at 12:00 but we got be there by 11:15 so we can take pics and be lined up correctly.
I walked into my mother's old home office while I'm waiting for everyone else. I felt so awkward to walk in here after all these years but granny made me promise her that I wouldn't open this door until the four of us graduated high school.
I sat down in my mom's old chair taking in every moment and every memory this room holds. The moment was interrupted when a letter fell from the book case, causing me to move in that direction.
Picking up the large envelope containing my mom's handwriting from the floor, I see that it's addressed to Tim Meg Kellon and I.
I was thinking about opening it but we'll open it later on. A knock on the door brought me back to reality making me look back. Hey baby you ready to go Meg asks as she walks in the room looking like the snack that smile back. Yeah love I'm ready, I say as I walk into her arms. We stood there in silence for a second taking in the moment until she spoke up. She would be so fuckin proud of us right now, she says as she kisses my forhead.
Yeah, she would be, I say back as we separate from each other. We leave out the room and head back into the living room where Tim JT Kehlani Kellon Caresha Dave and JaQuel are waiting on us. Hey guys I say as I hug caresha Let's go walk this muthafuckin stage yall, I say as I grab my keys so we can go. It's 10:45 but it's gonna takes us bout 25 minutes to get there due to my driving. to be graduating from this hell hole. Once we arrived all of us started putting on our cap and gown and took a few pics before going inside. So mani when are you gotta tell them Jt asks me as we finally make to where the other graduates were. Umm my grandmother is taking us to dinner after graduation so I'll tell them then, I say as we keep the volume of the conversation to a minimum so Meg Kell and Tim wouldn't hear us. I can't wait to see their reactions, I bet Meg's reaction gon be so cute, caresha says as we check our appearances in the mirror. I can only imagine her reaction but I'm kind of scared cause like what if she isn't happy about what I have to say, I say now feeling depressed about it. She's gonna be happy mani trust me, she says as we go get in our spots in line. Thanks you for the pep talk yall,I say as I hug them. Anything for our girl, now let's get ready to walk this muthafuckin stage girl Jt says interlocking her arm with mine and Caresha's. Yeah let's go but let's take a few Pics with everyone first, I say as we walk over into the crowd of graduates getting ready to pose for a few pics.
It's probably less than 400 students graduating this year
due to most of them was just coming to school just to come or dropped out while some of us actually put forth the effort to get to this moment. After taking about a total of about 30 to 40 photos it was finally time to line up. OK where is my Valedictorian and
Salutatorian Mrs. Carter asks. Yo Mrs. Carter Meg and I yell out in unison Yes I'm Valedictorian and Meg is Salutatorian, yes the it couple is the head of the fuckin graduating class the fuck you mean, this is black girl magic at it's greatness.
You two are at the front of the line in front of Will since the head of the class goes first and then the rest of the graduates, she says. Sayless, Meg says as we get into our spots.
Ok is everyone in their places Mrs Carter asks as she walks back to the front of the line earning a unified yes ma'am from all of us.
What time is Mrs. Wilson asks causing me to look at my watch.
Right now it's 11:40, I say as I look back at her. Damn time flying fast as hell, ok ladies and gentlemen we have 20 minutes but I wanna take this time out and say that I'm proud of you all, you've waited for a long ass time, yall worked yall asses off to get to this point, you guys have beat the odds when others told you couldn't do it and said that you'll never amount to anything in life. So today is you middle finger to the haters that said those things about you, today everything goes nowhere but up from here.
