Constantine came over to her with a smirk but as he was about to flirt, he saw the way she stood and her eyes.
The playfulness was now gone and replaced with frigid seriousness.
He made sure to keep direct contact while he waited for her to speak. Anyae had torn her eyes from his and focused on the floor."So um.....I...I-," sharp ringing had cut her off and both heads whipped over to where his phone was. Constantine kissed her cheek then made his way over to his phone, Anyae following behind. Peeping around him she say the caller was one of his cousins.
**********Phone Convo*********
"Hello?""Con..are you alone?"
"What kind of question is that? No."
"Well get somewhere alone."
********
Constantine glanced over at his wife and silently kissed her cheek before walking out the hotel room to take the call. Anyae wasn't suspicious, she trusted him so she just got ready. It was a good couple of minutes but eventually he came back. He felt his wife's gaze peruse his entire face but it remained blank. Eventually though, she gave up and just decided to ask him about the call."Sooo gonna tell me what that was about?"
He releases a sigh and turned to his wife,"Get your things."
Anyae felt so confused and looked at him as if he lost his head,"Why?!"
Constantine closed his eyes and murmured his response yet she heard it as if it had been whispered in her ear.
"Because we're going home."
Anyae stared at him for a good minute with a narrowed gaze, then turned away and went to gather her things.
Her husband stared after her, feeling like an ass but this was something important. It wasn't like this was a vacation, she knew they came here for a reason but she felt like it was beginning to be. But though it was an emergency that was causing them to leave he felt remorse come over him quickly. He found himself walking over to her but decided against it and left the room to go let Brian know to get everything ready for them to leave. When he left the room Anyae bit her lip, irritated and continued packing up. It was always something...every single time! When will their time alone just be their time alone. Nowadays it seemed like their time was anyone's time. Though she was angry she did have one moment of pure clarity dawn on her.
Ok he did recently tell me he would try to get out of the mob for me and relocate us somewhere else... I have to at least try to be patient with him. We're going to have a baby...and I don't want to start that chapter of our marriage on the wrong foot.
So while she did realize it was a little unfair to be angry at him, she wanted to be stubborn for a bit and pout a little. Let him feel bad. No he didn't promise her anything but he got her hopes up. By the time Constantine was back in the room she was finished packing. He glimpsed her expression and sighed but instead of saying anything his jaw clenched and he headed off to the bathroom. After using the bathroom he was just about to step out when he caught a glimpse of the pregnancy test in the trash. He grabbed the paper it came in and spied the two red lines.
We're pregnant...I'm going to be a father!?! Our baby...
Constantine was feeling a whole lot at one time. Nervous, excited, apprehensive, and immensely affectionate. He wanted to pull his wife into his arms and spin her in his arms. But he refrained. She wasn't too happy with him right now but later on he planned to let her know he knew. Er....somehow... He secretly hoped for a girl and without asking he knew she would want a boy.
Calm down.
After a steadying breath he washed his hands and left the bathroom. Anyae had just finished packing and turned to him with her hands on her hips. Lips pursed and looking at him like she was angry. The urge within him rose to check her attitude. So strong that for a minute he nearly forgot about what he'd just learned. But he began to pack and called one of his men to come get there bags.
Anyae followed after Constantine and had one last look at their hotel room before they left. The ride to their plane was relatively short and by the time they took off to leave Anyae was sleep. Her husband gathered her onto his lap and took to watching the clouds roll by as they flew back home.
