"What do you mean there's no file?"

"There's... no Gregory that you're describing in the system, Grace." We were back in the main office for the small number of human security guards hired, having called Jeremy through the Fazwatch to get him on a file search ASAP, since he was close. The dim lighting from the computer screens with several pictures of smiling Gregorys— Or maybe Gregori..— lit the messy office, yet none of them matched the kid you had just met recently.

Michael looks at me knowingly and sighs deeply, keeping his arms tightly crossed over his chest, "...Well. Okay. That.. puts us in a more difficult position, because if he's not registered as a guest, the Glamrocks might act up."

Jeremy spun towards our direction in his spinning chair, leaning back into it with a sympathetic gaze, "How did you guys come across this information anyways...? Even Vanessa hasn't called in yet.. Usually it's her."

The lie left my mouth quicker than I could think about it, "I saw him talking to Sun! In, well... the daycare. Duh. I spied for a bit and saw them talking and picked up Gregory and how he was scared or.. well, whatever. Then..." I trail off, looking at Mike for help.

"Then he saw Grace. She called me in and we gave him a chase, but—"

"—He crawled!"

Jeremy squints, "....He.. He cr-crawled..?"

"Yep." I nod affirmingly, "Crawled. Into the vents. He's a smart one, that's for sure." Jeremy stared at me long and hard, but could only sigh and slink further into his chair. I felt a sense of relief wash over me.

Breaking the quiet tension (as slight as it may seem), my accomplice spoke. I could tell he was also relieved, "I'll call Phone Guy now. Tell him to.. y'know, fill him in. Maybe he can help us figure out next steps. Jeremy, have you heard from Vanessa?"

"..Hm?" He whirls his head to look at Mike after zoning out, "...Oh, oh, uh— Sorry, no... I have no idea if she even read it. You know how she gets.."

"Jeremy?" I ask, tilting my head to the right, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah! Y-Yeah, I just.. totally spaced out for a sec. Thanks.." He stays silent momentarily before glancing at me as if he just remembered something, "...Oh! How's your first shift going?"

"..You know, I really forgot that tonight was my first night." I lean against the desk with a hum, looking at him with a polite smile. I peek towards Mike, who was on his phone , "I mean, it's only been about an hour but I feel pretty tired already."

"Yeah.. You don't even know the gang all that well either." He takes off his hat and sets it on the panel, careful not to knock one of the various knobs and buttons with the hard rim. His bouncy, brown hair was a little flat, but he took the time to use his fingers to brush it out and fix his ponytail while I responded.

"Sucks I had to meet them this way. I actually ran into them in the daycare. Freddy seems nice."

His piercing green eyes widened slightly, "Oh! That's good, did any of them give you trouble?"

"...Uhh," I rubbed the back of my neck and avoided looking at him, "Not really. Monty said some weird stuff, but that's... it, I guess."

"Monty's.. um, well... He's a special case. Bonnie's decommissioned for the time being— I-I'm pretty sure you noticed— so filling in as the bass player has been.. rough. That and I think that there are programming quirks that happened, not even just with Monty, but, well.. corporate doesn't really... care enough to fix it."

"I didn't really peg you for a programmer, Jeremy!" I smile warmly, but his rapid shaking of his head and flailing arms tell me otherwise.

"O-Oh!! Oh, no no no, not me! I just... I hang around Mike a lot, and he's more of a robotics expert. Something about... um, like.. like a family business! That was it!"
