The sound from the party speakers blared, the crowd--half drunken partygoers--singing or dancing along half-hazardly, doing their bests to appear sober.

All of them, except for Ruby.

No, Ruby was sitting away from the party, on the edge of the roof. Legs dangling off to parallel the pavement below, pavement littered with touring nightlife and the twinkle of street lamps.

Face solemn, shoulders slumped, and a half downed cup of whatever the bar cooked up for her sitting next to her in her left hand, her right clenched behind her to hold herself down.

Two months until the bank accounts empty.

Can't hold down any jobs, nor is her singing considered impressive enough to help bring in income.

Vegas wasn't a great place to live, due to the noise from the city and nightlife. Not to mention tourism. But it was her fault they moved here. And now it's her fault she can't move out.

Everything goes to hell, in just 2 months.

I should have brought my cardigan. Ruby thought, looking up at the star littered sky. She'd forgotten how chilly it can get at night in Vegas, and being fifteen stories up didn't help.

She looked down, keeping her grip even tighter behind her to secure herself from sailing over.

The sight almost made her panic at first, until thoughts, dark thoughts crossed her mind as to how to fix her financial conundrum. Like tunnel vision, as she came to the conclusion of how she could get out.

"That's a bit close to the edge there, isn't it?" A deeper, more baritone voice called from behind her. "The party's back here."

Tensing, and coming to her senses, Ruby leant back, swinging her leg back over the side so she now straddled the low-wall she was sitting on. Her clouded blue eyes now meeting with the producer of this nice voice.

"Just admiring the view." Ruby said sarcastically, not meaning to sound as rude as she did.

"Plenty of space to do that back on the solid ground." A woman piped from beside the man, looking to be about the same height as Ruby herself.

Ruby looked between them. Did these two seriously leave the action over there because they thought she was going to actually let go? Why would they even care?

Ruby held eye contact with the man, then shifted to the woman's jade gaze.

A look of concern flashed in the blonde's eyes.

Composing herself, Ruby carefully slid her other leg back over, and hopped back down to the gravel.

"Don't panic. I won't jump. Life wouldn't pity me enough to let me snuff myself out." Ruby flashed them a wry smile, seeing the tension leave the blonde's shoulders.

The man's dark eyes lit in amusement.

"Party boring you that bad, hm? I can understand that." He smirked, almost sizing her up.

Ruby noticed that, taking note of the fact it didn't feel predatory or sexual, rather like he was trying to guess her angle here, reading her body language. Involuntarily, she shifted, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah, sure. 'Bored'. So bored..." Ruby kept her tone flat.

The blonde stepped a smidge closer, almost to speak for the main with the coifed hair next to her. A 2 studded piercing on her cheek glimmering from some of the party lights.

"What if we offered you a good time? Something better than this little thing?" She flicked her hand at the party, showcasing her point.

Ruby's eyes widened slightly.
