We arrived in London about 10am local time and drove straight to my apartment. Well, my parents apartment. My dad used to come to London all the time for business so they have an apartment here that was rented out until my transfer at my job from São Paulo to London was approved. It comes in handy, honestly, cause I won't have to go apartment hunting nor pay rent.

I feel exhausted but I'll try and stay awake until nighttime otherwise I'll be jet legged forever and tomorrow I need to go to work to sign the new contract and meet my new boss.

⁃ "Do you want anything from the store, honey?" my dad asks brightly and I can feel how happy he actually is to be home. He hates going to the store.

⁃ "Guess I'll tag along, see around" I reply

And so we go to the store to buy some groceries and the essentials for cooking. I can't help but feel a little bit odd and out of place. But I guess it's normal considering I've literally just arrived here. And that's when me phone beeps

From Bruna: Landed yet?

To Bruna: Yes! Buying some groceries. Missing home already :(

From Bruna: I thought England was your home?

I can't help but laugh, and I know she's laughing too

From Bruna: Just kidding! You know I miss you too. But I feel like my brother misses you more ;)

I laugh again. Bruna has an older brother and she swears he has had a crush on me since forever, but I doubt it. We grew up together, it'd be gross.

To Bruna: Gross!

⁃ "Did you want to come so you'd be on your phone the whole time?" I hear my dad say next to me

⁃ "Sorry, Bru was texting me" I reply and put my phone back in my pocket.

We ended up buying a little more than the two of us could carry and were struggling to enter my building when I see someone holding the door for us.

⁃ "There you go! Do you need a hand?" the guy says as he hands out his hand to grab some of my bags"

⁃ "Thanks! We got carried away" I say

⁃ "Are you guys new in the building?"

⁃ "She is" my dad replies "We just came back from Brazil but her mother and I are leaving to Manchester in the morning"

⁃ "Brazil, wow! Must be nice" the guy says as we reach my door "My girlfriend lives just across the hall. If you need anything I'm sure she'll be happy to help. I'm Michal, by the way" he leaves one of the bags on the floor to shake both our hands. He's tall, brown hair and bright blue eyes. He seems genuinely nice.

⁃ "Thanks! For that and also for helping out with the bags" I say as my father and I grab the bags and go into my apartment

⁃ "I thought you were buying only the essentials" my mom says with her eyebrow raised

⁃ "Well, we got carried away" my dad replies

⁃ "Em, I just met the sweetest young woman. She must be about your age, a bit older, and lives just across the hall. Isn't it wonderful?" my mom says and I can't help but roll my eyes. She's really concerned that I won't make any friends and want to go back home or something. No, not home. I am home. This is home.

⁃ "I think we've just met her boyfriend then. He helped us with the bags and mentioned his girlfriend lives across the hall. He seemed nice"

⁃ "Why don't you meet her for lunch tomorrow? It'll be nice to already meet someone from here"
