"7 pm tonight, I am expecting everyone. Don't be late."
Ohm glanced at his phone, reading the message his father sent to their group chat. He scratched his head as he remembered how much their father bugged them the past few days, assigning them as the organizing committee for their dad's birthday.
Night and day, Earth texted his sons every little detail about the event, from the concept, possible menu, decorations, and miniscule details that no one would notice. It came to the point that Ohm had to put his device on airplane mode to forget the sound of his phone's notifications.
His father could easily hire people to assemble this whole party. Why bother asking three university students — who don't know anything about event organizing — handle such an important gathering?
Unsure if he'll have extracurricular matters to do, he ignored the message and kept a mental note to reply when his class ends.
It's been ten minutes and their professor still hasn't arrived. Five more and it's technically free-cut. He decided to open the group chat and saw that his brothers have confirmed their attendance. Ohm shrugged, I guess that means I won't be going.
Not wanting to disappoint his father, he decided to make up a valid excuse that could get him out of the situation. He'll probably reason out that his Uncle Khao asked him for a favor in their firm. It's the family business and Earth would probably understand and commend his dedication. The last thing Ohm wanted was for his father think to that he was purposely avoiding them.
In fact, that's not the case. Ohm longed to be with his family. But things were not that straightforward. Sometimes keeping distance was the safest thing to do.
"Hey Chi, do me a favor please." No response from his friend, Chimon, who was busy entertaining their classmates.
Attempting again, Ohm tried to get his friend's attention. Second time's a charm.
"Wachirawit! Chimon! Hello? Keep on ignoring me and I'll go the extra mile to annoy you," Ohm gave a playful smirk knowing that his friend would eventually give in as he continued to bother him.
"Attorney might come in anytime soon and she'll scold you for shouting. I don't want to be associated with you." His friend turned his shoulder away from him.
After kicking the back of his best friend's chair and pushing his temper, Chimon finally looked at Ohm with exasperated sigh.
"Asshole. What the hell do you want?" he sneered.
Chimon knew that look from Ohm, it happened everytime he needed someone else to face his problem.
"Running again from your problems, huh?"
One point for Chimon, zero for Ohm.Ohm rolled his eyes at his friend's remark, "Are you gonna do it or not? 7 pm, tonight, our house. Just relay to me everything that they talked about. Like always."
Standing up from his seat, Chimon decided to make Ohm work for the request. "This is the fifth time you're asking me to do this. At this point, Uncle Earth and Uncle Mix should be adopting me."
That might be better, they adore you. Ohm shook off his thoughts and laughed, "As if. They already have a lot to handle."
"What's in it for me?" Chimon crossed his arms, facing his taller friend as if he's taunting him.
Ohm jokingly pushed Chimon, "Is this what our friendship has become?"
Trying to appeal to pity, Ohm pouted, "Ah, I see. You can't even bother helping out your best friend." There's no assurance that it would work, but it's always worth a try.
Finally giving up to his friend's antics, Chimon agreed. "God, you annoy me so much. This time I meant it. Fine, but don't forget to bring the usual tomorrow."
Ohm smiled as he succeeded with his request. He honestly wouldn't know what to do it Chimon weren't there for such situations.
Not only his friend, but his personal lawyer and accomplice — this was the role Chimon has played since high school. Now, once again, Ohm runs away from his problems while Chimon covers up for everything.

"Asshole, I'm already inside your house." Chimon texted Ohm as he made his way towards the Watthanasetsiri household.
"You're the best! Love you."
Chimon scoffed as he read the text message. This had been their routine for the past for many years. As Chimon navigated to the mansion's dining room, he couldn't help but reminisce the first time Ohm practically begged him for the favor.
At first, Chimon was scared to face Ohm's family as he didn't really know them. He also found it weird why Ohm would send a friend to their family dinners when he had the time to attend them. Eventually, Ohm told Chimon his reasons for avoiding his family. He didn't necessarily agree with his friend's reasons, but he helped him out anyway.
Chimon's reminiscing was interrupted by Phuwin who draped his arm to his shoulders, "P'Chimon!"
"Asshole! You scared me. You're just like your brother." Chimon moved his shoulder up and down until the youngest's arm fell.
One thing he hated about the Watthanasetsiri brothers was that they would take advantage of their height and make anyone who was smaller than them an arm rest.
"P'Chimon. You're here again? I'm sick of you already," Neo teasingly greeted him, giving him a side hug. The middle child furrowed his eyebrows, "He's not going?"
Chimon shook his head and gave a small smile, "You're stuck with me again."
Something was different. Chimon had noticed that the two siblings were quite bothered with their eldest's absence. This wasn't usually the case as Neo would typically be annoyed while Phuwin would just be indifferent.
"Why? Is there anything wro—?" Chimon was halted by the sound of the gates opening.
"I think that's dad's car." Phuwin said as he ran towards the window to confirm if the car he heard was from his father.
"Of course that's him. You'll know it by the sound of the engine," Neo boasted, "I don't even need to peek at the window."
Chimon had always found it amusing to see Phuwin and Neo banter. Siblings were not supposed to fight and he knew he should atleast scold them, but he couldn't help but stop any form of entertainment.
"Alright you two, let's just wait for Uncle Eath at the dining room. Might as well sit and prepare for what's gonna happen to this party."
Phuwin sighed dramatically, "Well I'm not looking forward to that."
No one is. Even Chimon couldn't believe that he agreed to this in the first place.
He just comforted himself to the promise that he'll get his "pay" when he meets Ohm at tomorrow's class.
Well, let's plan this party.
