Smiling, Calum grabbed the acoustic guitar from the nearest stand and started playing a warm and natural sound. He was walking toward me as he strummed and his eyes were never leaving mine. I feel like he was showing me something... something that I should've seen sooner. That time I didn't know what it was but I knew he was indicating something as he played that melody for me.
The instrument's clear sound ceased entering my ears when he stopped right in front of me. He spoke instead of playing the instrument. He was confused like a puppy. Yes, a puppy because he was tilting his head to the side. "What's with that look, Audrin?"
"What look?"
He pressed his lips together into a thin line. "Like... you don't trust me at all."
I was taken aback. "Why would I not trust you-I mean we just met, Calum, you can't assume things about what I think about you."
That wasn't what I was exactly thinking that time when Calum and I had our first conversation. I never trusted Calum starting from the time when he told me his full name. The first question I asked him was his name and I know it is lame but I couldn't ignore the feeling that he was lying to me. I might be the stupidest person in that moment because I was thinking someone was lying about their name. Or maybe his name's actually Calum Thomas and I'm just searching for wrong angles even though there wasn't one.
Calum sighed and sat on the couch. He half-smiled as he nodded for me to sit across him. When I'm already comfortably sitting across him, he asked, "Would you like me to sing for y-"
"Have we seen each other before?" I interrupted him.
He dropped his guitar pick because of my question and he clumsily picked it up from the ground.
"P-Pardon?" he asked, stuttering.
"I think I saw you earlier. In Mrs. Fields. You were wearing a hoodie and I was reading my book and I saw you watching me and-"
"What?!" he spat in disgust. "I would never do such thing!"
Something inside my ribcage sank when he told me that but I didn't show any emotions. There's no way I'm going to show to someone I just met that I easily get upset. "Sorry." I muttered.
"Don't make the princess upset, Calum." A voice said from behind me. Calum and I looked up and there we saw Ashton. I forgot he was standing by the door the whole time.
"Ashton, why would I be upset?" I defended as Ashton sat beside me.
Ashton chuckled and grinned. He spoke in full confidence, his eyes never leaving mine and his index finger pointed straight to Calum. "Because Hood here said he- What the fuck!" Ashton was cut off when a song book come flying over his head which caused him to duck.
"You ass! You almost ruined my face!"
I laughed because of their childishness. I looked at Calum and the smile slides off my face when I saw that his face is so red but not in embarrassment but because he is furious. Ashton beside me is frozen and he was totally regretting pissing off Calum. I sat there confused of what was happening between them. I didn't even know what Ashton said that made Calum throw the song book towards his head.
Calum tried to compose himself and ended up failing so he stood up and threw the guitar towards Ashton harshly.
"Don't talk to me until you make yourself trustworthy, Irwin." He told Ashton as he gives him the glare that screams death. Calum was so disappointed and he felt betrayed.
Ashton face palmed and tried to explain but Calum was already out of the door. "Come on, mate! I didn't mean to reveal-Fucking hell..."
