   Clank-ank!

Hard metal landed brashly on a bed of concrete.

"No...." Angie's eyes widened when she realized what she had done. Blood reached out, daring to stain her shoes. "NOOO!!!" The young lady fell to her knees, grabbing your body by the shoulders and rolling you over onto your back. Your dead, dull eyes stared back.

Her eyes filled with salty liquid, pinching cheeks fighting back another shout. She was horrified, not knowing whether she should try the impossible task of brining you back or running away absolutely mortified. The two teens, both injured; both likely terrified for their lives, ran away from the scene of the crime limping and gasping for breath. Meanwhile Angie shivered in place. All she could see was blood.

She wanted to just cease from existence --she wanted to die! But she was frozen in place, unable to move. Finally, Angie built up the strength inside to reach her hand out and close your body's open, staring eyes. Another sob broke from her, she saw your blood on her fingers.

"I didn't mean to.." She whisper-cried..

Then, as if something suddenly touched her shoulder, Angie spun around. Her soggy eyes landed on your backpack. Sniffling, she crawled over to the sack, drawn to it but convicted by it at the same time. Reaching the bag, she opened it carefully. The first thing that caught her eye was scolded piece of paper. Huh.. it wasn't often that she saw paper. Pulling it out, she noticed there were more papers in the same condition.

Tearfully, Angie tried to read the words on the papers through the tears in her eyes.

"Dear Mom" the first one read.. "Dear Benjamin" your brother.. They were ALL letters to different members of your family, but.. why?!?

Angie bass shocked when, among the letters, she read one with her own name on it. Slowly, Angie opened the letter, reading it as best she could, though the emotion made it hard.

"Dear...Angie.." Already, she was having some troubles, wiping fresh tears from her eyes. "I woke up with a feeling today that something would go wrong... Terribly wrong.. If that is the case, I hope you find this in good health.. You probably think I am stupid...for sticking to the same schedule every month. Every month, I would come on the same day. And every day, I would come in the same hour... You ask me why almost every time. Truth is.... I do it for you.. I.. can't stand not being able to see how you are doing; making sure you are in good health. Sure, the cost is a few bruises...but... It is worth it, in my eyes..... I know your past is filled with hardships, and I am sorry for not being able to help you in the times you needed it most.. I'm sorry I turned my back on you that day... I wasn't in the right headspace, and am sorry I made you feel alone.. Enough about me, though... If my situation is...permanent, I wish you the best of luck. I hope you find the partner of your dreams... I wish you will get better, and leave the dark headspace I know you are in.. ...I'm counting on you... Live a better life... Love...(Y/n)."

Over her shoulder, you wished you could comfort Angie somehow. But, alas, as a ghost..you couldn't.

Herobrine hovered over your shoulder, eyes dull as he looked upon such a sad sight. "...She killed you.." He murmured.

"Yeah..." You breathed. "She..doesn't deserve to live like this.. though.."

"....You're a rare one, (Y/n).." The man placed a hand on your shoulder. One of your own hands rested on his.

"...How did you...come to have.. this.. job?" You asked.

"Hm.. Not many have asked me that... I.. was the first to die.. My name used to be Steve.. My eyes were normal. But...yeah. Since I was the first, I had no idea what to do, so I wandered around until I got stuck like this.." He then looked down at his hands. "When I found out about the portal finally, it was too late for me to enter... So, instead of just feeling bad for myself.. I helped the spirits of those after me reach their final destination in time. ... I have been doing that ever since.."

"..Wow.. um.. Thank you... And... Where does the portal lead..?"

Herobrine could only shrug. "Heaven...I assume."

"Ahh.."

"...Does that mean you are ready to go..?"

After a long pause, you slowly nodded. But wait. You followed Angie for just one moment as she stood, grabbed your bag, and... Dropped it on your parents' front porch. Then, she ran off. Blood had been left on the bag of hours. No doubt it wouldn't take long before the rest of your family found out what happened..

"Yeah... I can go now.." Carefully, you grabbed Herobrine's hand, and in a flash of purple, you appeared again in the door filled hallway. Fearlessly, you saw the bright, pinkish portal before you. Now, it was welcoming. Not holding the same looming fearful appearance as before. Herobrine held your hand firmly as you two walked. You could feel something was different about him now. A little sweat dropped from his hand. Looking up at his face, he was clearly holding back some kind of emotion; maybe even a mix of them. "Hey.. are you, okay?" You stopped when so close to the portal, you could jump in.

"-Nothing.." Herobrine lied. You held his hand tighter.

"You're lonely... Aren't you..?" You asked. You could feel the man's very heartbeat stop. Though he tried to hold it back, his lip quivered.

"...You're the...first person to notice.." When his eyes began to water, he turned his head away from you. "Go... Paradise awaits.." He let go of your hand, but you didn't let go of his. "Please. Just go." He tore his hand from you. "Don't curse yourself just for my sake!

"But maybe we could find a way to help you."

"You have only a few seconds left. Just go! Please?" He tried shoving you towards the portal, bit you dig your heels in and spun around past him.

"You know what? No. You have been helping SO many people. Why can't I help you!?"

"Because this is permanent, (Y/n)!" Pointing to himself. "Trust me, you don't want to be stuck doing the same thing I have until time itself ceases to exist!" He tried, but you just stared him dead in the eyes.

"You saw how I was with Angie... Herobrine.. I can't stand knowing someone is suffering when I could help them... It isn't just for you either.. I can spend the rest of my afterlife helping others... Who would give that up for a life like the one beyond, where there is no need for people like me, who just want to help others?.. You don't have to feel guilty, man... I'm choosing this on my own accord..." You smiled. Herobrine stood between you and the portal, debating whether or not he should just throw you in. But then, your time was up. A white glow appeared over your skin, and you grew taller and overall larger. A great power was gifted to you, and your eyes gained a new ability. In the distance, all around you, you could see little red dots here and there. You could toggle the dots on and off, thankfully, but immediately, you knew what that meant.

"Come on, big guy! We got some people to save!" You chuckled. Herobrine stared in amazement. Slowly, he stepped closer. When he was so close you could hear even his quiet breathing, you smiled. He was still tall compared to you, bit not insanely tall like before.

Slowly, Herobrine stuck out his hand, delicately brushing it along your cheek. You blushed, staring into his eyes. He said nothing. He physically couldn't say anything. Your invisible irises rolling, you pulled the man's head down to your level with both your hands on the back of his head and quickly kissed him. Just a little one. You pulled away, your lips confused, since the last time you kissed someone was a while ago, and it was a girl! But.. eh. Still same feeling inside. Completely dumbfounded, Herobrine rocked back. You held onto his wrist only so he wouldn't go toppling over.

"Oh, come on! We're on a tight schedule, remember?" You reminded him, smiling. Still dazed a little, the man smiled back. Then, he helped you learn his to teleport, and, just like that...

Two busy Soul Guiders.

Never alone again...
