unsteady hands grip wood, hoisting his body weight up as he peeks through wooden boards. his pale hands, soft and barely splintered, palms to oak. strands of too-long dark, hickory brown hair falls over darker, chocolate eyes.
the air is crisp, autumn leaves painted shades of reds and oranges swirl to the floor as biting winds pluck them from their branches. they float to the patched grass, mostly mud, and litter the concrete pathways.
forest eyes drop, wandering over aged, wooden planks towards another. iris' swirling with pine, flecks of moss and a brighter emerald hidden under eyelids. his hair, a dark blond, sit disheveled atop of his head.
indigo and aegean stubborn beneath those dark green eyes, collecting over countless sleepless nights.
"are you okay?"
the blond huffs, a deep sigh of exhaustion. "why can't everyone just go away."
george hesitates, denim catching on walnut boards as he sits by the hatch he climbed up through. he worries about his friend.
the boy speaks up once more, and george could barely hear the other, his whisper barely audible.
"except you..." he pauses, chin resting on his knee. "you can stay."
