Prologue

"And what flower am I?"
Fynnian smiles, biting the inside of his cheek as he thinks. The morning sun glows lovingly in his face, illuminating the features of what Enzo could only describe as a white rose.
Elegant, careful touches to sway him with the wind. A loud laugh buzzing in his ears like a bee. Delicate emotions that only be cared for with the diligent intelligence of a Botanist. Pretty face with an interesting story that everyone looks past so carelessly.
Fynnian is not just a flower, but a blessing overall. When he blossomed in Enzo's garden, those roses spread like wildfire and now they're practically swallowing him whole and he can't be bothered to reach for pliers.
Fynn hums when he finally has an answer.
"A Globe Thistle."
His accent rings like church hymns in Enzo's ears, completely entrancing him into a prayer. Not to God, but to Fynn. He elaborates with thought seeding in his pupils.
"You're dedicated and passionate. But you're independent and don't like help. You easily overcome challenges that others can't and you have a boundary that can only be opened if someone handles you correctly."
Enzo goes to respond, ask for his love to go into more detail, farther, so he can get a full opinion on how Fynnian feels about him. But his phone buzzes, and he knows better to ignore the notification, especially since he is the person that he is.
Reaching over, out of the warm bond of his boyfriend, Enzo grabs his phone from his nightstand and reads over the message.
His heart drops, as does his smile, as does his mood, as does his sense of safety.
"...Fynnian?"
There's no reply. Enzo's head snaps back, behind him, but the only thing there is an empty ruffle of bedsheets.
