It was cold and damp in the cramped space he found himself in. He often wondered how he got into this situation, but it was the effect of something far out of his control. His eyes followed a droplet of water, watching it grow and eventually drop from the ceiling onto the floor, joining the small puddle that formed. This was more of the same thing; every single day, after he had powered on, he would stare at the water droplets forming in front of him and watch the puddles grow on the ground.
He had lost count of how many days he had been in there; he had stopped counting after a full month passed. He did remember the first month, he remembered it very vividly. It was like it had just happened yesterday.
The pounding on the door, the screaming and begging he would do that would last for hours. The painful times where he would switch bodies once the building turned off its lights, the painful screams that would follow. The times where he would waste power pacing back and forth around the small room he was in, before it was filled with useless junk that the building didn't need any more but couldn't sell.
But now, he was in the corner, his legs pulled close to his chest, trying his best to become as small as he could. The broken sunbeams he used to have on his head were either on the floor in front of him, or somehow still on his head. The paint he had on his body was faded, chipping away to reveal foam and soft metal.
He no longer looked like those posters that used to surround the place where he worked, he no longer looked like the fun and cheerful animatronic kids grew to love. He no longer was himself.
He couldn't help but laugh at himself. The smile on his face told only lies. He couldn't help but feel lonely. He was made to be around people, to make people happy.
But, the company just couldn't afford to keep their daycare up with it's updates. They had to get rid of it, replacing it with something else.
He blinked with his one working eyelid, poking at the roach that ran up to him. It ran away after a few seconds of looking at him.
His name was Sun, his brother, Moon. They were the daycare attendants, they protected the kids, they took care of the kids. They were decommissioned. And they were betrayed.
