A.N. There will be four parts to The Letter, and then we will continue more story. Sorry this part is coming out a little late! I've been pretty busy with school! Anyway, enjoy!
Sirius POV
Sirius awoke bright and early to a sharp pain in his head.
His eyes shot open to reveal his mother, Walburga standing over him. "Get up, boy." She growled.
Eleven-year-old Sirius sat up and crawled out of bed. His older brother Regulus was standing in the doorway watching.
Sirius broke into a grin as he saw his brother. He turned to look at his mother, who nodded at Regulus.
Sirius have his brother a puzzled look, which was replaced with a cry of pain as Regulus slapped him, leaving a series of red splotches on his cheek.
"Why did you do that?" Sirius asked, tears welling up in his eyes. He was answered with another slap. This one from his mother. This time, the tears spilled over, leaving hot trails on his face.
He stumbled from the small bedroom, wiping tears from his face with the collar of his shirt. His father, Orion caught him with his strong arm. "Where are you going? Why are you crying?" He demanded.
"I-i-it's M-mum. S-s-she h-hit me a-again." Sirius stammered. "WHAT!" Orion roared. He stormed down the hall to his son's bedroom to give Walburga and Regulus a piece of his mind.
A crash and cry of pain erupted from the bedroom. Sirius heard screams of anger and yells down the hall.
He knew to hide from his family when they were like this. He crawled behind the sofa and curled into a ball.
He cried silently and imagined how much better his school would be than this. His thoughts were interrupted by an owl flying through the open window.
In its beak sat an off-white envelope, with a red seal. It took everything in him to stop himself from crying out with joy. His Hogwarts letter had come!
He wanted more than anything to go to Diagon Alley with his family and buy school supplies. He knew that his father might take him, but his mother would stop him, and probably beat him for wanting to go to school.
His thoughts were interrupted again by the heavy footsteps of his mother, stomping out of his bedroom. He peeked through a hole in the couch and saw her face covered in bruises. Sirius put a hand over his mouth to stifle a laugh.
When Orion was angry, there was no stopping him. If he did this to Walburga, what had he done to Regulus?
His mother stormed out of the house, with Regulus running at her heels like a stray dog.
Dogs. Sirius liked dogs. He remembered asking his parents for one once. That resulted in a series of bruises on his arms.
He didn't know why his family hated him. He only knew that once school began, he would never see them again.
A.N. Sorry this one is short! I'm no good at writing long chapters! Next week(hopefully) will be Remus's POV. I'm struggling to find out how to write Peter's. Anyway, I hope you liked it!
