Kiss of a Siren-Flirting With Darkness

Moving back to Seattle is a little weirder than I imagined it to be. All of Logan and I's old friends look at me differently, it's as if they know something is off about the both of us. Becoming a siren does change you, the curse enhances beauty in a way that shouldn't be possible. My red hair used to be curly and sort of frizzy, but now I don't need to do anything to it and it will still remain perfect. My complexion is flawless, my skin glows, and there is no reason to ever even wear make-up at all. The beauty that I received from the curse, however, is nothing compared to the way it changed Logan.

His bright green eyes stand out in any crowd, and woman are instantly drawn to him, just like men are drawn to me. His golden blonde hair sparkles even without sunlight shining down upon him, and his tan, muscular body is one that would make any woman nearly faint. He is perfection at its finest, and he seems to love the newly gained attention he receives.

He smiles and flirts with the waitress as we order our dinner, and I can't help but glare up at her with a look that is deadly. If only she knew I could kill her with just one simple scream, maybe she wouldn't flirt back so obviously. I know she can't help it though, Logan on the other hand, can.

"What are you doing?" I whisper across the table after the waitress walks away. "You can't do that to people all of the time, you know? It isn't right."

"Relax babe, I'm just having a little fun. Maybe I can get us a free dinner with my new good looks and charm," the perfect smile that follows his words quickens my heartbeat.

I'm worried about Logan. On so many levels. He shouldn't be using his powers on every person we come across, but he always does. If he keeps it up, he may get worse. Much worse. It starts as a smile and could end with death. I don't think he realizes how powerful the urge to kill is sometimes, and how easily it is to let the urge take over and control your every thought. I'm sure this is how Meredith and Allure started, with just simple fun and games. This is dangerous though, because the fun can quickly become all you ever want, until you need something more to satisfy you.

"I'm just worried about you, Logan. You have to be careful and I hope you understand that. Your powers aren't a toy meant to be played with, and we should really only use them if we absolutely have to." I sip my water nervously as I gauge his reaction to my words.

He reaches across the table, and winds his fingers into mine. "I love you Lola. I'm glad you care about me and want the best for me. But, I'm fine, I promise. You have nothing to worry about, okay? I'm never going to be like...them." He tells me.

He doesn't need to say their names, I know exactly who he is talking about. The evil sirens who we must forever try to be nothing like. I hope what he says is true, but still, deep down inside of me I can't help but feel like something bad is coming. Something really, really bad.

"Fine, I'll try to stop worrying so much. I love you, Logan. So, so much." I gaze into his eyes and get lost in them for a moment.

He laughs and says, "This is still so crazy to me. I've had you here with me now for a whole month, and I still can't believe it's real. I thought I would never see you again, and a huge part of me assumed you were dead. I'm so thankful that we've been given this second chance together." His words melt my heart, and I wipe a tear away inconspicuously.

He leans over the table, pulls me towards him, then kisses one cheek and then the other. That will never get old to me. He truly is the sweetest man alive, and I know I am so lucky to have him in my life.
