So far, the ex-wife had been questioned by the prosecutor and by Pierce, but nothing interesting had come out of that. Not that you had expected it to - it was years since she had gotten divorced, and other than her dislike of Sharon, she had nothing to add.
Now it was time for the pool boy, Loki Laufeyson.
The prosecutor held a sparkly g-string up by her fingertips as she questioned him. "Mr Laufeyson, can you tell us what this is?"
"My uniform," the raven-haired man answered, "Mrs Carter asked me to wear this while cleaning her pool." He lounged comfortably in the chair, arrogance oozing from his body.
"Okay. Are you having an affair with Sharon Carter?" The prosecutor asked, laying the bright blue fabric down again.
"Define affair," he said with a mischievous smile on his face. He enjoyed the attention he was getting, and the look on Sharon's face made it even better.
"Did you and Mrs Carter have sexual relations?"
"Yes. Okay? Yes." The prosecutor went back to her seat, satisfied with the answer she had gotten. You, however, were shocked. He had just lied to everyone. You knew for certain that Sharon would never cheat.
"Ladies and gentlemen, court will reconvene at 2 PM." The judge let her hammer fall before leaving the courtroom.
Sharon turned to you, "A Delta Nu would never sleep with a man who wears a thong. I just liked watching him clean the filter," she said as a guard came up to escort her out. "Take care of me, Y/N." Just as you thought. Sharon would never do that.
"I will," you said, although a little less confidently than you would have yesterday. How were you supposed to help save her when the witness was lying on the stand?
"Y/N?" Bucky interrupted, "You wanna join me for lunch?" He had his hands in his pocket and a shy smile on his face.
The two of you had grown closer during the long nights at the office. You shared cups of coffee and stories when taking breaks, and you especially enjoyed the look on his face when you brought him his favourite Chinese takeout. You were so happy to have met him. He had made the entire experience so much more enjoyable, and despite how much you tried to ignore the butterflies in your stomach, you were never completely successful. You weren't foolish enough to believe he felt the same, but you wanted to relish in the feelings for the time being. It was nice not to think about Tony anymore.
"Sure!" You smiled widely at him and led the way out, missing his sigh of relief.
You found a cute little café near the courthouse and took a seat at one of the outdoor tables. It was a lovely day with the sun shining brightly.
"This is cute," you spoke, looking around. They had turned the little courtyard into a mini garden with beautiful flowers and plants.
"It sure is. Beats eating in a meeting room," he responded, popping the button on his suit open. He even loosened his tie and opened the top of his shirt. You tried not to stare too much at the exposed bronzed skin
"What can I get you two lovebirds?" An elderly woman came out wearing a blue apron and holding a pad, ready to take your orders.
Bucky blinked at her, questioning if he had her correctly. "I'll take this," you pointed to the menu that listed several incredible sounding sandwiches, ignoring what she had called you.
"Good choice, darling. And for you, sir?"
"I'll take the... same, I guess," It appeared that Bucky was not good at choosing quickly.
