You spent the entire night sobbing. This way so not how you had expected law school to be. You had come to get Tony back, and while that failed, you weren't that upset with it. Tony was a douche, and you deserved better. Law school had actually come to mean something to you, and spending time with Bucky had been a definitive plus. He was so nice, and smart, and handsome, and well, you could go on and on. You had hoped to see if something could have happened between you. Now, it never would.

This sucked.

Bags packed in the car and the rest ready to be picked up by a moving truck, you went on a final trip to the salon to say goodbye to Peggy.

With teary cheeks, you hugged Peggy tightly. "What's the point of staying? All people see when they look at me is blonde hair and big boobs. No one's gonna take me seriously ever. The people at Harvard don't. Tony doesn't. Not even my parents do. I just..." you shook your head. "I thought for one second that someone saw me as something more. But I was just kidding myself. All Pierce saw was a piece of ass. I was stupid for thinking I could be a lawyer."

"You're not stupid," Peggy objected as she gave you another hug.

"To hell with law school! I just wanted to say goodbye." Peggy frowned with sadness. You had become one of her closest friends in a matter of months, and she was so sad to see you go.

Then the most unlikely voice of all spoke: "If you're going to let one asshole ruin your life, then you're not the girl I thought you were." Professor Stromwell raised an eyebrow before walking out.

"She's right, you know. Pierce and Tony are dicks. Don't let them decide who you are and what you do. Show them you're more," Peggy said.

Their words resonated with you. Maybe they had a point.

Bucky and Natasha had gone to see Sharon before the trial commenced, hoping to get something useful. The TV played a segment with Pierce in the background - it was the most popular case at the moment and news stations were desperately trying to get anything they could.

"Is he always an ass?" Sharon asked the two of them.

"He's a top defence attorney, of course, he is," Bucky said with clenched teeth. He couldn't get the look on your face when you told him what had happened out of his mind. He wanted to march straight into Pierce's office and rip him a new one, but he knew that would do more harm than good, so he was quietly seething at the moment until he could figure out what to do.

"Okay. Is he an ass who is going to win my case?"

"He'll try," Natasha replied.

"He thinks I'm guilty. Why should I trust him?" Sharon asked.

"Ask Y/N. She looked pretty cosy with him last night," Natasha snickered.

Bucky's jaw tensed, and his face twisted with disgust as he turned towards her. "You don't know what the hell you're talking about."

"What's going on?" Sharon leaned back, watching the two with great confusion. She had wondered why you weren't here.

"Y/N quit," Bucky answered with a sigh, the anger seeping out of his body. Guilt and sadness replacing it, instead.

"What?" Sharon had not expected that.

"Pierce hit on her, so she quit," he explained to the surprise of both women.

"Wow. What a douche!" Sharon exclaimed.

Natasha was silent for a moment as shame overtook the shock. "I really fucked up..."

"Maybe there's something we can do," Bucky said, a glint in his eye of hope as he thought of something.

The next time that Sharon stepped into the courtroom, she was dressed smartly in a black blazer wearing a confident smile on her face.

"Why do you look so happy? You're on trial for murder," Pierce frowned at her.

"You're fired."

"What?" he laughed incredulously.

"You're fired. I have new representation." Sharon grinned.

"Who?" Pierce exclaimed loudly, as he slammed his paper down on the table, gaining the attention of the entire room.

Sharon elected not to answer and chose to watch as the door opened to reveal Bruce and you.

Clad in pink, you felt confident and sent the entire room a wide smile. You strutted down to where Pierce sat scowling.

"She's a law student, she can't defend you." He didn't even look at you, opting to ignore you. Well, that would not be an option for much longer.

"Well, according to..." Bruce opened a book and began reading aloud to Pierce. When Bucky had approached you with his new plan, you were just as doubtful as Pierce, but Bucky managed to convince you. The night he had shown up at your door with books and Chinese takeaway, you were an equal amount of confused and happy. As the night progressed, he managed to convince you, and you were going to show Pierce that you were more than a piece of ass!

"See," you smiled smugly at Pierce.

"Counselors, approach the bench," the judge called out, wanting to deal with this immediately.

As Pierce saw you ready to approach the judge, he spoke in disbelief: "You're not going up there.

"Yes, I am."

"Maybe you didn't hear me. You're fired." Sharon told him once again.

"Counselors, now. All of you."

The four of you approached the judge, and you introduced yourself. "Y/N Woods, your honour. Rule 3.03 of Supreme Judicial Court states that a law student may appear on behalf of a defendant in criminal proceedings."

"Your honour, I have no problem with this," the prosecutor stated, thinking she would get an easy win with this change.

"I do! I'm not allowing this," Pierce objected.

"Oh. But you agreed last night. In your office-" you gave him a sly look "-when we were discussing my career?" Pierce squinted at you, surprised you would bring that up.

"The ruling also states that you need a licensed attorney to supervise you," the judge said. "Mr Pierce?"

"I will not." It was his turn to smile smugly, but it didn't last long.

"I'll supervise, your honour," Bucky cut in, much to Pierce's astonishment. He had spent the day trying to not let his contempt show, but now all was out in the open. He relished in the look on Pierce's face. He deserved this. Scumbag.

"Well then, miss Woods, proceed."

"Thank you, your honour!" You smiled widely before walking back. You spotted Peggy and Steve sitting in the back, both sending you encouraging smiles. Steve's nose had been taken care of, a brace holding everything in place, and just as you told Peggy, he was too in love with her to care that she had broken his nose.

Pierce stared for a moment at the judge, ignoring the pleased smile of the prosecutor before he turned to Sharon. "Enjoy prison!"

The door opened just as Pierce took his things, and two unmistakable voices were heard loud and clearly. "Oh my God! Y/N! We came to see your trial!" Maria and Wanda shouted excitedly.

"This is so cute. There's a judge and everything," Wanda commented as she scanned the room. "And jury people."

"Vote for Y/N!" Maria shouted, clapping her hands. Oh, how happy you were to see the two of them.

"Ladies, take a seat," the judge proclaimed after allowing them a few moments.

"You got this," Wanda whispered as they sat down behind you.

You really hoped so.
